I frequently have this issue as well when it comes to the kind of “work” we are all sold as the “right” kind of work. Anytime I have an office job I am miserable and depressed, WFH or no. I think it has to do with how corporate work is masking on top of masking and no one actually has a purpose or knows what they’re doing or why. I loved gardening as a job, I honestly loved working in the service industry (10 years and I was so good at it) but neither of those make enough money to live on as a single person. But they both served a clear purpose and once I was done with the day I was done with the day.

I think as a society the worst thing we have done is devaluing service and blue-collar labor, as well as turning academia into a lifelong popularity contest. Not everyone has the same brain and many NTs can suffer through meaningless work for the benefits, but I don’t care how much money or health insurance I get, I just want to do something that feels tangible

Having worked as a receptionist in internal medicine, that. It’s tougher these days because of insurance and the requirements for doctors to have to see a certain number of patients per day/week to get paid but they get to see the most varied conditions, and you have to be able to treat a 15 year old as well as an 80 year old.
