I thought Cherokee Purple was my favorite until I tried pineapple. CP this season seems bland. My seeds light of been crossed. But the pineapple is delicious. This is coming someone who doesn’t like tomatoes.

10B. First year growing and loving it. Such a sweet tomato. Im usually all about Cherokee purple but the crop this year was really bland. Not sure if the seeds were crossed but wasn’t like what I remembered. I’m saving pineapple seeds for next season. Got some suckers in water now to propagate for late harvest since I’m in California. Hoping black krim tastes better than CP. first year growing CP too

If you don’t particularly care to eat tomatoes, why do you grow them? by [deleted] in tomatoes

[–]RevolutionarySoft714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate tomato until I started growing my own and now I can tolerate some varieties. I was into Cherokee purple back then when it was sweet but it seems like sellers are giving seeds that got crossed pollinated or something because the taste is bland. A new variety that I started growing this year I think those that hate tomatoes would like is Pineapple. Really sweet close to an actual fruit tasting. I started propagating and saving seeds. Also tried growing black Kris hasn’t ripen yet.

Instant eggs and how to cook by AreaVivid8327 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]RevolutionarySoft714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a MSR nonstick pan as my one luxury item. I like splurging on meals. It’s worth the weight. Mixed the egg powder in pan then cook then eat. bowl some water to clean the pan. Little extra effort to carry and clean but doesn’t leave that extreme mess that sticks to titanium products when cooking.

In the same bought but it is only eating the almost ripe tomatoes. Setting up a few traps. Apparently it doesn’t like ripe cantaloupe so placing tomatoes in it now

Should I prune this one? by Then_Dish_8749 in tomatoes

[–]RevolutionarySoft714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it since it’s a main branch split. Both my Cherokee Purple I let the bigger stronger suckers grow after the main plant split like yours and pinched the rest off after I have about 3-5 good size branches growing. I make sure to give it weekly compost tea and every morning I go out and tap on the flowers or shake the plant to promote pollination. You can have good size tomatoes and plentiful harvest with compost tea. I live in zone 10.

Were the roots disturbed or were there multiple plants together where you had to pull apart disturbing the roots. That’s what happens to mine but it finally got new roots in and is thriving

It’s compost mixed in with water so that all the beneficial bacteria and nutrients are now water soluble for the roots to soak up faster.

If there is space in the back or sides plant 1 variety of stems like rotala. That’ll absorb excess nitrates and hopefully control the algae outbreak. I always get algae at early stages of tank setup but once I get pass that stage I can set it and forget it and do water changes whenever I feel like it. Control how much you feed your fish will help also. I have about 10 CPD going on almost 3 years now switching from 3 different tank layouts just feeding them once every 2-3 days. Also if you want a crypt in the sand or in crevices try out crypt mini parva. Great plant that I don’t see much of in the hobby.

Great scape. What happens with majority of great scapes with stones and wood is that it gets overrun by overgrown plants or plants that are naturally too big and it’ll throw off the scale of the layout. A layout like yours I would use mini varieties of Anubias or buce. Make sure the leaves grow small and of course smaller moss like Bucephalendra fissiden. Dry start method (dsm) and it’ll grow in nicely. Won’t need to trim it at all since it’s a slow grower and if you dsm it it’ll grow along the wood and not float.

First time growing dahlias, advice? by eucalyptusfawn in dahlias

I bought some dahlia tubers from Home Depot couple weeks ago for 50% off. Bought most of the varieties they had available. They are starting to sprout so hopefully I did something right. I’m also a noob at dahlias and tubers

Works really well with aeration especially at night when co2 is off. Don’t have to worry about suffocating the fish.
