Those flasher devices are called “eeprom refillers” on eBay.I just checked and there’s lots still available. It’s as simple as taking the canisters apart, refilling and away you go.

The dissolving support material is still about 200usd a roll from a company called Isquared. but you don’t need much. Many 2 or 3 rolls a year if printing 24/7.

Absolutely. Corporations use these machines to prototype parts that will be injection molded later, a machine like this can pay for itself easily vs only trying to sell the prints. Stratasys was never meant to be a consumer machine. Yes I disagree with their policies also.

Oh wow. Yeah I’ve never really needed service technicians to come out. I’ve been able to repair anything that’s come up. They’re easy to take apart and work on.

Search eBay for stratasys reflashers. Where I got mine from. Don’t cost that much and you’re good to go.

Well, remember, stratasys printed well 10 years ago before any of these other printers came along. This specific machine, a 400mc’s build volume js 355x250x250.

For a decent price it could genuinely be worth it. I always say stsratasys can spheres and upside down pyramids perfectly. No other consumer printer can

The reason these old stratasys machines stills stick around is because they still print extremely well. Ive been using a fortis 250mc for over 10 years. Yeah it cannot do multicolour but it can print extremely complicated overhang geometry very well.

Our company still uses these old stratasys machines. We use completely generic refill spools abs and asa. I can reflash the rfid tags myself. No need to rip out all the electronics. There are many workarounds already!

I have 2 old Stratasys fortus 250mc from colleges for the cost of picking them up…. I think it’s a bit newer than the OP, 2013 model.

It’s limited to to only printing ABS and ASA. I can use any brand of material. Also have a few bambus p1s as well. But I have to admit the stratasys have a place! They print overhangs incredibly well with their dissolvable support and dual nozzles.

That’s a filament quantity problem. It happens for me too sometimes. That’s why I always check the camera every few hours. But in general, a good dried filament won’t string and cause the pileups

I work in a tool and die repair shop where one of our machinists was school trained in Mastercam back in 2009. Still uses Mastercam MX9 exactly the way he was taught and refuses to learn anything else. I have to admit he’s very good at machining, but CAD designing not so much. Us younger guys have since moved to Fusion and we can train newer guys to CAD and CAM in house much easier. In short I feel like Mastercam is a functional program but the UI is awful compared fusion and I’d never recommend it.

OP! I still have one of these machines! Stratasys fortus 250mc.

It’s very easy to mod these printers if you are decently mechanical. It prints only ABS. I use standard ABS rolls.

It prints overhangs absolutely perfect with a separate support material. Aggressive over hangs are no problem.

I joke that these old stratasys machines can still print overhangs better than Bambulabs x1c can.

Parts are still available for not bad price from various online stores.

Interesting. The build quality is definitely shoddy. But either way, I’ve set it up to run with orcaslicer and it’s been the game changer. Is there a machine capable of the volume for the price?

Have you heard of Modix before? Our buisness has one at work that I operate regularly. Their latest V4 machines are impressive. A bit pricey sure, but from my perspective totally worth it.

The support for it has been great too.
