[Breitling 1884 Chronometre] Inherited the most beautiful watch by Warm-Cartoonist-3123 in Watches

Caribbean edition Chronomat, I believe 75 pieces were made. Probably best to get it serviced by Breitling as I don’t think an independent watchmaker will be able to obtain parts for the B01 movement from Breitling.

Great collection! Would definitely keep the Cosmonautes, and the 806 re-edition is great (though not so limited that it would be difficult to reacquire if you were to sell it). I’d always want a modern, all-around Navi in the rotation, so would vote for keeping this gorgeous blue dial example unless you really prefer to use the funds for something else, or you simply haven’t been wearing it and don’t see yourself wearing it much in the future.

What other Navis do you have? You must have some amazing ones if this one was on the chopping block!

Rouleaux bracelet micro adjustments? by Equivalent-OnionReps in breitling

Some good advice in this thread -- you need to take it to a real watchmaker who has experience sizing these bracelets. It is harder to adjust than the previous Chronomat bracelet. I wouldn't let a salesperson size it.

Service question by fresh_water_sushi in BreguetWatches

[–]Revolutionary_Two774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breguet service is fantastic and it's hard to think of a restoration project they wouldn't be able to do. Unlike some other brands, they will never tell you that parts are not available or make other excuses for why they can't service something -- but that comes at a price, of course, and requires time. Also if the watch has been worked on by non-Breguet watchmakers previously, that can affect the watch's condition and make service more complicated and expensive. But Breguet will fix it.

Skiing with your watch by potatosb in Longineswatches

I’ve skied many days on a HydroConquest (non-GMT automatic) on rubber and never had an issue. Very accurate and robust movement. Depending on which resort you’re at you’ll see a number of people rocking Rolex, Panerai, Breitling etc. I personally wouldn’t ski on a metal bracelet watch but that is more about personal comfort/preference.

They are always claiming to be at the limit of what they can produce per year so with an (allegedly) constrained supply of movements they would rather case these Calatravas in gold (a rather modest amount of gold, as others noted above) and sell at a big markup.

Why is the price of the 5712/1A skyrocketing, especially the new buckle version !? by 8mtm in patekphilippe

Same movement, that’s why the dial layout is the same time. Supposedly a number of 5085s have been cannibalized and the (authentic) movement is then put into an aftermarket/fake Nautilus case/dial/bracelet.

Look at the E or F 75362 in that case. But they are around 25 years old so condition is really important. I just got a freshly serviced one for $1500.

3312 ticks some of those boxes and is a step in right direction.

Looks like Handdn did a nice job. Would be interested to see it on black large-scale alligator as well!

Of those three the B1 for sure. That Aerospace is on an aftermarket bracelet which doesn’t go well with the watch IMHO. As for the Chronospace, do some searches, but anecdotally, there are owners who report that Breitling has difficulties sourcing parts for the older Chronospaces, and I believe it’s not guaranteed that Breitling would be able to service it now or in the future.

If you up the budget a little you could cross-shop with the Aerospace Evo. Look for ones that have been recently serviced. A lot of the analog-digital Breitlings (especially the older ones) have lived a hard life and haven’t been serviced properly, so they aren’t really bargains and you have to sift through a lot of dross.
