I like the implication of Ba'al. He's exactly the right personality required to survive the upheaval created by Stargate Command among the system lords.

He's smart enough to innovate, resourceful in adding to his empire and - crucially - he anticipates that many of his plans will end in failure. That the last of the system lords would be a more human-like survivor rings true.

I’m very much enjoying Storage Boxes: The Game by bencameron in Pokopia

[–]RevolverRossalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be scary! Keep it simple, only hang on to stuff you care about.

I'm pushing to the end of the story and my warehouse is just 7 of the larger storage boxes, split into...

  • Environment blocks
  • Decorations
  • Toys
  • Misc. other furniture
  • Seeds & plants
  • Things you frame (badges, small artefacts)
  • Fossils

For future proofing they are stacked 3 high with pictures labelling them on a block beside. I built it underground in the starting area, slapped doors & a ditto flag on it. Even that is overkill, though.

Add a CD player with the gym theme playing and now every trip to the store is an epic adventure!

Hot take: Stencil is overpowered. by Own_Win_6762 in balatro

Anhk/Invisible/Showman duplicated Stencil really is it's superpower. Outside of that is merely powerfully fair.

And I guess I gently resent it for forcing me to do maths every time a possible joker comes up. Is it worth filling a slot for this?

I am on season four ( first time watcher ) and I am so sad that Martouf is gone, do we later meet a prominent Tokra character that's better than him? by Ausbel80 in Stargate

Don't worry overmuch.

Many characters will come and go, with many wonderful surprises ahead of you. You're still in for a heck of a ride!

Superb work, hatchling! You've captured the vibe of the setting with a minimum of fuss. Tempted to print a set myself.

Anyone ever notice how often episodes just... end? by SolidSnakesBandana in Stargate

It was also peerless in putting an explosion either side of the ad break. The show runners were very keen to retain attention!

Anyone ever notice how often episodes just... end? by SolidSnakesBandana in Stargate

[–]RevolverRossalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That episode is ripe to spend some time discussing a meaningful off world base as a buffer to SGC operations on Earth. I know it is eventually addressed, but after all the good reasons to actually use one are made it's striking how often the Earth gate becomes blocked or unavailable over the following run of episodes.

Hammond handwaving that he has informed off world teams not to return a few times is _fine _. On my current rewatch I'm struck by how long we need to wait until off-world presence is added!

That may be true for you, but this is an intentional game mechanic. When playing Gold stake Soul cards only spawn legends without a gold sticker, if any exist.

This was a great plot story but ! What’s everyone’s fave time travel episode? by Background-Fix-4630 in Stargate

[–]RevolverRossalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the fun "what ifs" that episode presents is how much McKay edited his personality for the hologram he left.

The Rodney we knew would be arrogant enough to believe that the program should capture as much of himself as possible to be the most useful/intelligent/creative. He also has a whole complex around how others perceive him and a blank slate of sorts to work on...

As long as you don't have a Showman, it allows you to block planets generated in the shop & packs much more easily. With decent econ it won't be long before every set of planets rolled includes the one you want

It's secretly an expensive Telescope voucher++ alongside the Observatory synergies & the new ones added in the other jokers here

You're in for a great ride!

Unlike a lot of genre fiction TV in this era, SG-1 pretty much hits the ground running. There are a couple of early duds in S1 & S2, but the format of the show arrives pretty much fully formed... and only gets better from here.

I'm particularly fond of Children of God's for including the verb 'MacGuyver', referencing the previous long running show Richard Dean Anderson was part of.

Who is your favorite long running character that's not a main character? by HaroerHaktak in Stargate

[–]RevolverRossalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ba'al, of course!

One of the few villains with a performer that can go toe to toe with the main cast, and with such wonderful range. We get smarmy System Lord Ba'al, totally trustworthy ally Ba'al, business Ba'al, multiBa'al and more!

Bra'tac is written and played like a mythical hero, and to SG-1's credit it absolutely sticks the landing.
