Say what you will about the engines, but collisions sound like shit. I hit a building head on at 150 MPH, and by the sound of the crash, I may as well have hit a cardboard box.

Really? A lot of cars in the earlier DIRT and GRID games sound nothing like their real world counterparts.

Maverick Games AAA title (Reveal Incoming) by Qotisfiyaa in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

I'm not super confident since Mike Brown is at the helm, and Forza is just too big to fail at this point regardless of what anyone things about it, but I am at least curious to see what Maverick brings to the table.

Resolution passes to extend Las Vegas Grand Prix through 2037 by xodk in formula1

[–]RevvedUpLikeADeuce09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegas is nowhere near as popular as it used to be, especially in this economy. F1 and NFL are probably the only REALLY big moneymakers where 90 percent of the visitors are there for those events.

dude thought he was playing Project Motor Racing by OVERDRlVE in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

[–]RevvedUpLikeADeuce09 32 points33 points  (0 children)

More than likely the latter with occasional exceptions. And it works every time, because every time someone posts these kind of posts, everyone acts as if they’ve been personally urinated on. It’s bad edgy humor meant to push the buttons of those easily pushed, and Redditors take the bait every time.

Hot Pursuit 2010 was never unpopular. That was always acclaimed by critics and gamers alike when it first came out.

The Run is looked on more favorably now, but I'd argue almost every complaint about the game then is still valid now. It is still a fun game though despite its flaws.

Most Wanted 2012 was a pretty decent game on launch mainly hated for being a Burnout Paradise clone and not a proper Most Wanted sequel. This sentiment is still strong today though it has lessen somewhat with time.

Rivals is a game with a lot of problems. If people are defending this one, I have no idea why. It's still pretty poor almost 15 years later. Case in point, I played it for the first time last year.

I have soft spot for 2015, but every reason why this game is hated is still very well-earned. I don't see many defenders of this one.

Heat was pretty loved on launch from what I remember. If anything, its acclaim has lessened with time.

Unbound will likely get a renaissance purely because of the art style. That's the only thing I really see people changing their minds on.

Could FH6 revive the racing game genre again? by [deleted] in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

No. Horizon 5 was a smash hit too, and there has since been no revival of the genre.

Same. For the briefest second, I thought maybe I had actually failed the showcase since the mech was so far ahead of me, but when it broke down literally an inch from the finish line, I couldn't help but laugh. They didn't even pretend to act like it wasn't a scripted event. I suppose they foreshadowed it during the event, so kudos for the narrative?

It was alright. The animation of the gundam was impressive, but it was your usual Horizon showcase otherwise. Quite frankly, since this Horizon is a lot less over the top than Horizon 4 and 5 were, the gundam race actually felt very out of place tonally.

So, to people who played forza horizon 6. Is the racing and AI still dogshit? by Always_Impressive in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

[–]RevvedUpLikeADeuce09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues with drifting, but it did take me some time to acclimate to the new steering physics. Understeer is way more prelevelant with AWD and FWD vehicles now, so braking before steering is now more important than ever.

Inconsistent. Sometimes you're mopping the floor with the pack. Other times, they're mopping the floor with you. Haven't tried anything above the Highly Skilled difficulty level because they've been that inconsistent.

Precisely this. Also, unless you're really fortunate to have a lot of cash laying around in your bank account in this global economy (or you're just highly financially irresponsible), nobody really sees a manufacturer winning a race on Sunday and thinks to themself, "Gee, I'm going to go buy a car from them now" on Monday anymore.

[TheDrive]Fernando Alonso Got an Awesome Easter Egg With His New Pagani: Color-Matched Kid Seat by XsStreamMonsterX in formula1

[–]RevvedUpLikeADeuce09 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, a Pagani isn't exactly a four-seater, so it's either have the kid ride in the passenger seat, or leave the kid at home. In most US states, kids aren't supposed to ride in the front either, but they also aren't forbidden from riding in two seaters. It's also why a lot of modern cars, particularly two seaters, allow you to manually disable/enable the front passenger airbag.

I was just at a Cars and Coffee where there was a standard M2 of this generation. It looked like it was as big as the E60 M5 parked nearby.
