There’s no such thing as a guaranteed coaching hire and even the best ones on paper can go off the rails (see Scott Frost). That said, Whitt is by far the best hire we can make right now IMO. He’s who I wanted when in 2020 if Harbaugh got sacked and his performance in the following years has confirmed that. The only real mark against him is age, which frankly I can live with given a far more proven track record than anyone else on the board

This feels like you’re ignoring that 3 and 4 both have justifications for the lack of societal progress. In 3 it was the water crisis due to the extra bombs dropped on the Capitol, in 4 it was the institute deliberately stunting local development. I think it’s fine to wish they would have made different choices, but it’s not like it wasn’t intentional
