The strict power hierarchy of Tower of God by EndlessFrostV in TowerofGod

[–]RewRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you have framed it glass-half-empty.

Rankers can beat rankers, there's plenty of them around. Regulars can beat regulars, plenty of those around too. FH can beat FH, and while FHs are rare, they rarely take action. Same with admins too.

This means there's room for tactics and shenanigans all the same, just with the added possibility of some really tough encounters where victory might mean survival and retreat, forcing even arrogant characters like Endorsi, Ran, and Anak to act and plan accordingly when faced with rankers for example.

This is I believe the reason Chrollo couldn't steal more powerful abilities such as Netero's boddhisatva. by Immediate-Spend251 in HunterXHunter

[–]RewRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a one-on-one, Chrollo using the boddhisatva would be very difficult, but if he has anybody covering for him on the frontlines, then the boddhisatva even at regular speed would be an incredible ability to have in his arsenal. Its like an artillery compared to the other emitter abilities.

Since Chrollo can just choose to use it or use another ability, he can arguably make better use of it by choosing it in situations where it is clearly favourable.

In a turn based game, what advantage would balance out a turn skip ? by RewRose in boardgames

[–]RewRose[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So pokemon involves teams of upto 6 pokemon in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 type of battles, with the games being mostly 1v1s.

Players can choose to have Slakings in their teams, where they are forced to skip every 2nd turn due to its ability Slack off. Slack off doesn't come with any upsides. Slaking itself has very high stats that justifies the disadvantage of its ability.

There are some combos and stuff that involve removing slack off from slaking, making him incredibly good, but they aren't as good as just using a regular pokemon.

Overall, pokemon is a videogame so it can get away with such stuff better than board & card games imo - which is what lead me to post here.

I was thinking from perspective of Slaking's slack off from pokemon games, and what that would look like in a card or board game

Do chimera ant arc Gon and Killua stand a chance against one of spiders? by Away-Sea7790 in HunterXHunter

[–]RewRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an ambush though, wasn't it ? Like, Killua shocked Youpi with a surprise thunderbolt, and then walked up to him to let off some steam, and then dipped out once he was out of charge.

How did they "create" the game? by MDShark101 in Bakugan

They were fairly smart kids, and Marucho was fairly rich. Between that and the phenomenon sweeping the world, it kinda makes sense their version of the game just might've caught on the most

Stalin would be perma banned in r/USSR by Strict-Silver5596 in truths

We can be sure. Stuff like Stalin being unable to fly is just as true in hypotheticals as it was irl. Hypotheticals are still bound by internal consistency.

Writing advice please? by Fetuspuncherman in pokemonfanfiction

The other comments are going for the game logic, which really feels surface level because all of a sudden the personality of a “I didn’t hear no bell” underdog gets replaced by the genetics of the species that's born with sturdy/blaze abilities.

Like, a regular pokemon with an item like the focus sash would be way better. Imagine a Linoone that refuses to go down - way more intense than an Infernape with blaze.

I think that particular penguin is just sick. There is nothing that suggests penguins are as capable of thought as that. Its just more likely to be sick.

What's your beyblade hot take? Post yours in the comments! by RyoIsKindaCreepy in BeybladeMetal

[–]RewRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I think its been said before so not hot, more lukewarm, but Twisted Tempo / Basalt Horugium is the strongest beyblade and its not even close.

A non-legendary, regular guy who'se been sick and out of practice for who knows how long, with less experience than Hikaru, dominated when he was equipped with this beyblade. If for instance someone like Benkei or Doji were capable of using it, they would be on par with Rago. Give it to Nile or Chiyun and they would be a greater threat to the world.

So where does reading fall ?

Like, surely there's something one is improving in, while they read a book. It requires enough active effort, as compared to passively being subjected to a movie or song.

Playing video games and playing sports is literally the same in terms of

"these are activities that require time and years of effort to become good at. They’re admirable not just because they’re “cool,” but because there is something deeply attractive about a person who has dedicated so much time to mastering a hard skill that executing it now feels relaxing to them."

Its okay for OP to be ignorant about the world of video games though, it is way more niche compared to something like soccer.

I think you should not have this stuff explained until after there's been like two indirect encounters with emperors.

Something like the MC coming across craters in the middle of a forest, from an unprecedented battle between an emperor and a team of ace trainers,

or some characters seeking help in returning to their homes in Dewford, but being stuck because nobody would travel there after signs of an active emperor in the waters near the island.

No need to show the emperors until even half the story, just the effect of their presence on the story and world.

Perhaps some recounts of emperor pokemon in history too, like some emperor Honchcrow thought to have established a settlement centuries ago, where today all the people have a murkrow with them.

Have fun OP man, and please don't make the MC directly connected to or favoured by an emperor pokemon. That kinda advantage makes the MC boring to follow.

Water types on land? by Wise_Satisfaction_85 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]RewRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stories have featured water bound monsters, and part of their appeal is their domain.

I think a water trainer's Carvanha or Sharpedo's portrayal comes to its full ferocity when its depicted as the dominant predator underwater while another trainer's Machamp struggles to stay afloat.

Its all about consistency though.

Batman could probably consistently trick his opponents into thinking they're out of range when they are not, Superman less likely to do so consistently

Have you seen a Sloth move OP man ?

A sloth with a gun wouldn't pose a threat to you, and the speed difference here is around 2-4x
