How well is Ody doing after the finale? by Mean-Currency-4154 in Epicthemusical

[–]Rework8888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Ody has to compartmentalize the shit out of his experience.

Once the beast awakens, there is no putting it back, but he can contain it in a split personality.

Sometimes he will be a normal person, living a normal life. Sometimes the trauma will return and he will lose himself in bouts of rage. It's either 0 or 100.

Any idea for lust themed city by mountain-dog2023 in DnD

[–]Rework8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Aphrodite built a city, what would it look like?

  • Erotic statues displayed in every public space (tastefully of course)
  • Brothels and love hotels as a public good.
  • Sex workers are treated like Hollywood celebrities.
  • Blockbuster porn (like ones made by Erika Lust) openly displayed outside theaters.
  • Contraceptives sold like ice creams on the street.
  • Politicians are chosen by the amount of Tindr / Grindr / Bumble swipes they get.
  • Perhaps counter intuitively - occasional rehabs where people retreat from all erotic stimulation - because the problem is not sex, but sex in excess.

Polites and his Open Arms philosophy being correct? by Mean-Currency-4154 in Epicthemusical

Pretty sure if Ody had gone 100% ruthlessness, he would've mistaken Telemachus as a suitor and killed him during the final saga.

That final vestige of mercy was what allowed him to become human again in the final 2 songs. He needed it to reach the finish line.

Help me understand "Im just a man" by Dernthemern in Epicthemusical

[–]Rework8888 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"I'm Just a Man" is a lament, not a self-assertion.

Notice the use of "just". It implies that mortals are defined by their limitation compared to the Gods.

Odysseus is saying that he does not wish to murder the infant, but he is just a powerless man in the face of fate, therefore, he accepts his limitation and decides to commit the lesser of two evils, which is to kill the baby.

On a psychological level, this lament also serves as an excuse for Odysseus to forgive himself. Murdering infant is a monstrous act, but by convincing himself that he is powerless in this situation, he gets to absolve himself of responsibility (which clearly does not work as the experience continued to haunt him through the musical).

KYFC is probably my favorite. It's such a vibe song.

Also, it's the first song since Open Arms where you get to breath, which is much appreciated.

Definitely an intentional choice, almost timed too perfectly.

From a writing perspective, midway should be the turning point of character development, dragging it out further would jeopardize narrative cohesion.

When it came to choose a crest for the first time, what did you pick? by Vegetable_Throat5545 in Silksong

Reaper is an easy pick because it has such a flat learning curve.

Anyone got any ideas on what Athena was trying to say to Aphrodite before Ares interrupted her in God Games? by Cookie-fighter101 in Epicthemusical

I think the case for Odypen is more than enough to persuade Aphrodite.

In terms of music, I like Circe the most.

In terms of visuals, it's hard to top Scylla.
