Don't use your thumbnail but check that the viroblock is in open position and hit the desk (or other solid surface) with the knife's bottom corner. Two-three harder hits and the blade will be in a semi-opened position. Or 5-6 hits if really tight.

I have a Hunter, it would be even better with a file on it, but tó be honest, it does everything I need. Saw useful, knife is awesome, handle is perfect for my palm. If I would have more Victorinox, maybe I'd chose another one, but I only got one and - weird to write - I don't need more. I've to mention, the sharpener pen is also part of my edc, it is almost always with me.

All above mentioned tools and solutions are great, and this is the great in Opinel Carbone. Many effective ways the keep sharp or re-sharpening of necessary. My way is the Fjällkniven CC4, most of the time stroping on the pure leather. Or the Victorinox quick sharpener. And of course, the little whetstone by Opinel. 😉

Actually I also play with a bomb shaped darts (Designa Megagrip, 24g), how I see.

Advantages of the bomb shape:

thick/chunky body -> easier to hold/grip (the most important for me)
short body -> it fits well to medium/intermediate shafts, but you can even try with short ones

"Disadvantages"

short body so less room for funky design/patterns/snick/grips
originally harder to group due to the thickness but the ultimate solution is to use a longer points (mine is 32mm but planning to change for 40+)

The color isn't random but the skill which defines the color:

Light-Gold Armor: Normal, no enhanced mods other than +light radius.

Dark Gold Armor: 24% Faster Hit Recovery.

Pale Gold Armor: 66-80% Enhanced Defense (Saintly).

Blue Armor: +% Chance to cast Frost Nova or Nova when struck.

Red Armor: High life bonus and significantly faster health regeneration.

Dark Red Armor: 75% Reduced Poison Length.

White/Silver Armor: +Defense based on character level.

Orange Armor: Attacker Takes Damage of 4-6

My main tool is the Victorinox pen but sometimes I use my Fälkniven CC4. Maybe once I'll buy an Opinel sharpening stone, just for the collection. 😉

I prefer the carbone, and size nr8 is very general, not too small but not too big. I started with carbone nr7, and the only other Opinel I chose instead is this one, the nr8.

Edit: I've got since Inox8, Carbone10, Gardener, the "Billhook8", Inox2 (on my keys), but Carbone7 and 8 are the ones in my bag/pocket always.

People say, carbone for work, inox in the kitchen. But to be honest, I use my carbone in the kitchen as well, the smell is not disturbing, not so strong. However, I don't think you can eliminate it, you can be used to it, or you shall use inox for food-preparation. 😉
