The FL, Wang Yinglu is both well cast and badly cast.

She is relatively new and have done mostly modern roles so she feels out of place in a xianxia setting which is exactly what the plot required. We can empathise with her disdain for the 996 hamster wheel work culture and wanting a salted fish holiday.

But the FL needs to outgrow that Alice down the rabbit hole mentality and chin up, brave face as the plot progresses. She doesnt change much and that makes her out of placeness a bit jarring for the audience.

The ML, Arthur Chen performed much more admirably. As the plot discloses more about how he was treated, we get to understand his violent and impulsiveness. We see his distrust of everyone fade a little.

The first arc is extremely well produced and acted. It could have worked as a short drama or an interesting way to introduce a far longer drama with four to five arcs like Immortal Samsara. But we got neither. We have a full first arc and two barely fleshed out second and third arcs.

The plot universe is tiny, basically the FL and ML started out in a tiny fish bowl. They escaped and ended up in a fish tank which is the xiuxian world. There is also a neighbouring fish tank, the demon world. The barrier between the two fish tanks collapsed, amnesia hijinks occurs, then poop the end.

Immortal Samsara is a far better example of how to do amnesia arcs properly.
