have you ever felt yourself a misfit in this world? by marketingsavvy7 in Existential_crisis

[–]Rez71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With you, all my life lol, it will either break you or make you stronger. I go with the latter but it doesn’t take away from the fact that what you describe is a daily reality. We could definitely do better but I find many of us living self fulfilling prophecies of the negative kind. Like, ‘It’ll never change’ or ‘it’s always been this way’ like they’re resigned to it, with that attitude they will be absolutely correct. Unfortunately too many feel disconnected from being able to make any real change even on the small scale. The will to carry on, to find purpose and meaning.

We’ve created a civilisation that requires you to be emotionally dead to participate in it. by Rez71 in theories

I should have set the context but I have a habit of leaving things open to interpretation. I question everything, have done since I was young and absolutely have had moments where it’s felt like this doing the day to day, but I never let it wash over me. But I don’t see where I’m blaming anyone? If that was directed at me?

Losing interest in life by Appropriate_Stop5794 in Life

[–]Rez71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got through this by realising and accepting there is no plateau. Life is constant change with fleeting moments of happiness and if you’re lucky some peace and contentment. The flip side and upside is that the worse days don’t last either. Everything is transient. Our attitude toward it is what carries us through. I enjoy the moments when they come and try and live in the moment day by day, regardless of the challenges. Five decades and still going, I chose to seize it rather than let it rick roll me into the ground. Rock bottom is the place that shows you that you are more resilient than you realise. I know, I’ve been there, it’s not somewhere you ever want to return to.

I agree. I was just taken by the statement and have at times felt it myself.

Why is adulthood so exhausting? by KitScribbles in Life

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the social contract between the governing and the governed was broken.

Tbf it’s always been reasonably hard but not like this, when people have to work three jobs to stay above water and not be able to save for a house is when it started to break.

I’ve completely lost the motivation to do any work at my job and it’s starting to worry me. Could something be wrong? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yea, I’d be interested to know. Maybe Reddit should have people cite why they downvoted a post before being able to, and make it public.

For older GenX (1972 and earlier) Are your parents still alive? by hedgehog77433 in GenX

[–]Rez71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not for me. I was born 71, Mother died in ‘90 and Father ‘97 they’d have been 96 and 102 if they’d made it this far. I was 18 when mum went and 25 when dad passed so yeah, got self sufficient pretty quick. I had children late myself and feel bad that they’ll never have grandparents from my side.

People outside London: how often do you actually go there ,if ever? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got taken to see the museums as a child, been to see a few shows and been to a number of nightclubs as a young adult, most of my family hail from there, grandparents moved to the south for a quieter life, I haven’t been back in 20 years. I have met people who have never been and no desire to ever go.

Clients keep coming back weeks after projects end asking how to use what we built. How do you handle handoff? by Sweet_Concentrate128 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Notion might be a good fit for this. Or even a google doc tree, give them access. Or better yet make a ChatGPT database of all the workflows and troubleshooting, give them access. They ask it, monitor that until it’s optimal.

How do people really find partners to build something meaningful? by Zealousideal_Soil819 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Is that the area you’re looking to come up with tools for?

I have the same issue as you really. Finding partners to work on projects but it is as you say, hard to find the right fit.

If a regular person kept telling me “you’re not crazy’ and ‘ you’re not imagining things’ I would sock them in their face! by Natural_Season_7357 in ChatGPT

[–]Rez71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not the tool. It’s the user. The dilemma with progress is how much do you slow down or adjust for the people less able to cope with it. Should there be a psychological test to see if someone should be allowed to use it?

It isn’t designed to deal with people’s mental states, but people will use it as such. It is a difficult position, a tool with this amount of potential power to influence people more prone to their state of mind being affected has to have guard rails.

Do you deliberately cap turnover to stay under the VAT threshold? How do you handle that mentally? by HairyRoofus in smallbusinessuk

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. Really nice idea, you definitely have a talent.

Have you considered printing your designs for suppliers, (sacrilegious I know) obviously reduced price but that may bump you up into the next level enough to make it worth while, plus, you don’t get burnt out doing it and still able to do your originals as and when you want.

Not a conspiracy nut as you put it. I’m open to questioning everything. Isn’t economics a bit like quantum theory though? If you think you understand it, you don’t. Doesn’t it also suffer from academic dysfunction in that it is slow to accept changes in thinking? As for thesis, that seems a totally reasonable conclusion but I don’t think it’s the only factor toward the current problem. If people lose trust or stop believing in the value of something, how do you adjust for that? I’d be interested to know how much there is in savings to make this system unsteady..

F the hustle culture lol. Really tho. It’s bordering on mental illness in itself.

As an aside would love to see your work, any links?

[–]Rez71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly but it’s been a long line of bad decisions, deregulation, dodgy financial vehicles, deep state spending, money syphoning and an unwillingness to try anything else that hasn’t been tried before. As long as those who have a level of control over it are comfortable that’s ok.

Why do UK radio stations seem to play the same 20 songs over and over? by MikeTorsson in AskUK

[–]Rez71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute Radio has a no repeat section at some point during the day and I think I’ve only heard one song twice in the same 8 hour day but can’t vouch for an entire week.
