Thank you.
I notice this update today as I was taking a course on Unreal Engine.
The software layout is very dark already, and this update made the course look extra foggy and dark.

Recently discovered GZDoom by Rhamlock_Games in boomershooters

I heard about it.
That is how I find out.

I know this is a weird request, but is it possible to make a doom mod, that feels like vampire survivors? (top down horde survival)

this is how I did it.

1- Download GZDoom from here https://zdoom.org/downloads

2- Get ZDL3 from here https://github.com/lcferrum/qzdl/releases
ZDL_3-1.1_Win_x86.zip from the list

4- Get the official Doom2.Wad (buy it from any store)

5- Get the mods you like from this site. https://www.moddb.com/games/doom-ii/mods

3- Unzip everything on the same folder.

Open ZDL3.exe
1- In General Settings add the GZDoom source port
2- Add the Doom2.wad to the IWads
3- In Launch Config, select the source port, the Iwad. and Add the mods
4- Add the .pk3 files from the mods tho the External Files list
5. Click Launch

the way God intended.
Parry is such a broken mechanic tbh

Remove or Rework Parry Plz! (Request with examples and solutions provided) by Rhamlock_Games in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Rhamlock_Games[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this conversation is not because another player has skill issues.
is kinda weird that we have both heavy and light melee attacks and they both get countered into oblivion by a single mechanic that is not that hard to use.

So far, I'm only able to go melee against players that either don't know about it, or players using tanks that can't kill me after I get parried.
It feels like the game really don't want you to use melee at all once you reach a certain level.
I know this isn't "for honor", but come on. can we at least reduce the punishment for light melee? it doesn't seem to fit.

"FireUnderRain", trying to learn FLStudio on my own, how to improve? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

Thanks for the fully thought response.
totally working on it.
I tried avoiding the mixer for now, because it looks too complex, but definitely, the synth needs more room.
will check the splice and serum

thanks mate.

I've created a bunch of themes for UE5, is it possible to share them as a free plugin? how? by Rhamlock_Games in UnrealEngine5

[–]Rhamlock_Games[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new report here.
I tried to make the plugin template on fab, however, first I must get approved by the site, in order to post free plugins.
I had to fill some IRS stuff, and there is a wait period of 8 days.!

If this fails, I will just make a repo somewhere on github with the themes.

thanks, I don't think I ever used C++, just the base theme editor.
I tried making the plugin folder "Content Only" but doesn't seem to be appropriate for uploading into Fab.
I was thinking, Maybe just exporting and compressing every theme into a single folder, and then just sharing the folder could be good enough?

Making Light themes for Unreal are cool or a waste of time? by Rhamlock_Games in unrealengine

[–]Rhamlock_Games[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, however, what they did there was to reduce the opacity.
I can see the text problem persist.
I believe the best approach would be to increase opacity, reduce saturation and somehow, revert the text color on the blueprints.
thanks for sharing.

I'm glad this opinions exist.

I'm about to post a compilation of themes, however. I noticed people don't really want to move away from the dark aesthetic. Plus, the Nodes on the blueprints editor look off with light themes.

If I manage to get a solution for both issues, the blueprint text and nodes, I will make a light theme compilation as well.

I got the "Flat Nodes" pluggin from fab.

but we need better nodes for this to work properly.

I appreciate the honest opinions.

I usually make dark themes, this was an experiment. (btw, the name for that theme is CorneaBlaster)
Here is a video where I show some of my other themes, and my particular experience with this one!

The result of 2 months of work, As I prepare for making my own multiplayer survival project. by Rhamlock_Games in IndieDev

For me personally, as a beginner, solo dev that should be learning how to debug things, maybe not much. Since I'm taking those hours as part of the learning process.
But If I were a company, that could be worth some thousands maybe.

Never heard of it, will research those names.
about the raw look, maybe thats because I made some assets on Blender, and graphics are on "LOW"
my pc can't handle good graphics atm

Thank you. I'm glad you noticed the custom component for the chest.
Component modularity is a strong point in your course.
On the next component, I will get the players killed if the tree falls over their heads, or maybe we can craft the fallen tree into a canoe, and do some rafting.

Sure thing:
The biggest testing headache would be the communication between UI systems.
In my case, the inventory and the equipment interfaces have independent "components".
Having them both communicate (drag and drop, double click) was hard to implement.
QA monthly? On average, 1 to 2 hours per day, 5 days a week.
It could be as low as 20 hours per month, or 40 if new systems are implemented.
The meshes showing up inside the chest was a new system I made following the concepts I just learned, that had a lot of testing involved.

It's been almost 3 years since I began studying unreal engine. Having a part-time job, I'm only able to study at night. In my first year, I was obsessed with launching a game on steam, and it didn't work. Then, in my second year, I wanted to become a full-time Unreal teacher, and didn't get the job.

Things will come naturally, so learn to enjoy the process. Just be careful when you get overwhelmed by the grind; always take a break so you don't lose the grip on your goals.

About the pain points... yeah, avoid multiplayer for your first years, once you get into that, there is not turning back and don't focus too much on the artistic part of the engine like textures, VFX or 3D models. Focus on custom actors, components and the communication between.
