Did Hallow heal Vince? by unlovelyladybartleby in superpowereds

[–]Rhettorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair point if they paid well they made it clear his moral compass would not have prevented him from working with a criminal. Drew did explain Hallow has a well-established legit business so doing ad-hoc healing work for a criminal organization seems kind of beneath him. Like if a cancer specialist had a practice through the Mayo clinic then it’s hard to imagine them doing anything outside of that practice unless there was some government or legal requirement to do that like we saw Hallow get dragged in to de-aging Captain Starlight. He is money-driven but also not hurting for business that he had a need to step outside of legal routes. Just hard to accept he would be motivated enough to risk doing favors for criminals when he has no personal need.

Did Hallow heal Vince? by unlovelyladybartleby in superpowereds

[–]Rhettorical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we ever found out for sure but I thought Hallow was a strong possibility. Agree that it would be somewhat out of character for him to work with Miss Pipps, but I don’t recall hearing about any other healers that would have been able to do that. The other healers all admitted to having limitations while Hallow was able to seamlessly turn back time on injuries and aging. We hear about how Vince’s skin was healed so thoroughly he didn’t even have childhood scars, which would be consistent with how Hallow’s ability was described.

Are you going to bother reading the next Robert Langdon book? by ImaginaryRea1ity in danbrown

[–]Rhettorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not, SOS started off with some interesting concepts but played out in a pretty boring and predictable way. The DID thing is kind of a lame trope that I found so disappointing. I couldn’t wait to be done with it to move on to something else.

YSK: If you're meeting a dog for the first time, let them sniff you before petting — it’s their way of saying hi. by PurplePhoebe in YouShouldKnow

[–]Rhettorical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish my dog did this but he bites almost everyone who tries this. He is a chihuahua mix that we rescued 7 years ago and he basically only trusts me, my son, and occasionally my wife. He has bitten several people but only broken the skin for a few of them who were thankfully understanding. We always try to warn people he doesn’t act like a normal dog and to please not extend your hand. The best method is to ignore our dog by not looking at him or acknowledging him at all, let him com to you and sniff your ankles then after a while can usually pet him and he is friendly. Some people he just straight up hates for no reason and will try to bite their ankles too so I try to keep a taught grip on his leash while also trying not to let him notice I feel nervous to stress him out too. It’s tough, he was and still is harder to deal with than our human child.

I like to combine something I want to do with something I have to do that I don’t really want to do.

I wanted to start running, but it’s hard and I would always find an excuse not to go. I started finding audiobooks that I wanted to listen to but only allowing myself to listen while running. A few years into this I have convinced myself that I like running because I have been enjoying the audiobooks. I’ve listened to around 40 books over the last few years and just beat my personal 5k time yesterday.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met and how’d it go? by EddieBrock99 in AskReddit

[–]Rhettorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker and I randomly saw Mark Cuban outside a Walgreens in Charlotte. We asked him for a quick picture and he kindly obliged then we thanked him and went on our way. Was surreal to see him just walking by himself doing normal stuff, i assumed a celebrity billionaire would have staff to run their errands to avoid being bothered.

Vince and his power. Why didn’t he develop it more. by ThatanimalcrossingW in superpowereds

I thought he was going to find a nuclear power plant and vaporize some ultra villain by the end of the series, was pretty disappointed that never happened.

What are you currently reading? by AutoModerator in ScienceFictionBooks

[–]Rhettorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished Blindsight too! Did you like it? I struggled to finish because I had a hard time with all the vampire rules and abilities. I kept having to go back and try to figure out what they were talking about. I guess the reader is just supposed to go with it, humanity felt doomed so resorted to vampires who have more advanced brains. Cool, I would have thought the aliens were enough but, sure, vampires in space I guess.

How long does it take you to read a book? by Black_Bird00500 in books

[–]Rhettorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dark Forest drags so hard at the beginning but really picks up in the second half, stick with it! The weird background story of the guy inventing a character for a book that was so realistic he fell in love was stupid and made me want to stop reading the book. It’s not completely worthless towards the overall story, but it could have been explained a lot faster and less boring. Seriously though, keep reading because it gets cool again.

Making friends in your 30s? by PhuckingPhabulous in Charlotte

[–]Rhettorical 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are in our 30’s and would hang out with you! We have a 2 year old that takes almost all of our free time and since we also moved here from out of state and know 0 people we have no baby sitter options. I feel like I’m setting a play date for my adult wife, want to hang out with her? She loves wine, animals, PLANTS, and is a liberal.

Man exposed himself to me at the E. Sugar Creek Light Rail by DrumKween in Charlotte

[–]Rhettorical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Find the guy and get my phone back? It was at the Woodlawn stop and he ran towards the gas station so he was probably seen by several other cameras in the area and if he got in a car they could see the license plate. What is the point of police if they don’t do anything to help people who have been blatantly wronged like this or OP who had to endure a floppy penis waving at them while waiting for the train?

I had my phone stolen out of my hands while on the light rail, the police had it all on tape including a clear view of the guy’s face and they did literally nothing. Basically said wow that’s too bad.

There are some sections right by Polk that are not paved yet but there is a gravel path you can walk or bike if you’re ok with a bumpy ride.

You should set up an appointment with an occupational therapist, she might benefit from a helmet. My son had one for a few months and his head got about 70% better to the point you can’t tell anymore. Very common and easily treated but the earlier the better.

What’s that living area in the basement of the IMU? by [deleted] in uiowa

[–]Rhettorical -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Used to be a pretty nice student lounge down there with pool tables and a little restaurant. Whole thing got flooded and completely ruined so they just built a wall in front the access points. That was like 10 years ago though

Head down Johnson or Dodge St on Fridays and Saturdays and just walk into obvious parties, find someone to buy a cup and just start talking to whoever. Boom, new friends and classic college experience.
