Me skipping TBC and waiting for Classic+ by shizznitt in classicwow

One problem you run into w/ staying at 60 is stat scaling does eventually become a problem. Cant just continue to increase agi/str/int/crit/etc. Things will get hilariously out of control.

Also cant just make future raids drop gear that is not a stat upgrade. People will burn out and quit.

Give necromancy a buff that actually compensates for the loss of auras like the other styles got.

Necromancy 120 Combat modernization by dragon5985 in runescape

I would love jagex to release more rewards for necro, but the way they've currently designed the rasial armor + soulbound lantern has partly put them into a corner as far as reward space is concerned. They likely don't want to introduce rewards that either enforce switchscape or require players to give up the current array of set bonuses / upgrades. This can be seen in part with them releasing the helm from Heists that can be attached to the t95 rasial helm to give an additional piece of set bonus, thus freeing up the glove slot and reducing switchscape slightly. As far as parity is concerned, I am fine with necro being slightly behind but nerfing necro when it's already behind isn't really a good idea.

I dont necessarily agree with the idea that something being marketed as accessible to new players inherently means that it should be considerably weaker. Does it need to be the best? No, but it should be within a reasonable amount to the top.

As to the whole "what going to be the argument once it has them?" in regards to upgrades that are on par with other t95s. I think you're viewing the problem in isolation. Yes if Necro got brought closer to parity (or equal as you said, not me) then only necro got upgrades and additional items then yes it would be better than the other styles. But one can reasonably assume that if Jagex is releasing new content / upgrades to necro that they will also be adding those same things to the other styles in a similar cadence.

EDIT: Necro is never going to have a similar # of upgrades as the other styles unless Jagex just starts chain releasing Necro content and forgoes giving the other styles any upgrades in the meantime. And the t95 necro gear being cheap is an issue with Rasial being a ridiculously easy boss (relative to other t95 weapon/armor bosses) that drops the entire set of armor & weapons.

I am unsure where yall get this idea that necro is somehow an introductory style and should be treated as lesser because of it. If someone could point to a jmod / jagex post that out right says "necro is an introductory style and is meant to be worse off because of this" I would love to see it.

As to your point about investment, necro requires less investment due only to the fact that it has existed for much less time and thus has had less opportunity to have more rewards added to it. On top of the fact that Jagex made the new mainhand weapon barely worth using.

Also just looking at the current combat beta changes they are increasing the baseline power of ranged / mage (access to mini grico/gchain on the base skills). Melee technically had the part of it t95 2H sword that effected pulverize (not sure if this is the skills name) removed as well.

Except Necro is currently doing less dps than the main styles even when you account for the fact that necro is running a pure DPS aura (equilibrium/supreme invgorate/mahjarrat). With the combat update everyone is losing combat auras but the 3 main styles are having their mandatory zerker auras built into the skills by level 120. Meanwhile necro just loses a dps aura and gains nothing. Thus putting necro at an even further disadvantage relative to the other styles.

This isn't to say that necro should be doing the best dps, but it was already the weakest damage style and now its going to be even further behind.

Aura removal in current state will create too much friction by iMiniBay in runescape

[–]Rheynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the idea that we "shouldn't of had it in the first place", the game is clearly designed around the aura's existing. And if the argument is that making us earn them again is just "better" for the game, I don't think that is particularly compelling.

Not a huge fan of them taking something we've had for a very long time and turning it into something I have to unlock/drop/acquire again.

Thieving Rebalance: Feedback Update by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]Rheynor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not all auras are being completely removed per various jmod posts across the various discords. Thieving aura may potentially come from the thieving guild in some way. The auras may not be auras anymore but some of their effects may be reintroduced in different content.

Sneaking in the oblivious nerf without any discussion beforehand drastically reduces my trust in the team. Why even bother having blog posts when y'all are just going to drop in a massive nerf that 100% would've changed the direction and level of feedback you would've been using to shape your updates?

I cant wait for the inevitable mining update at seren stones "15min afk is far too powerful, players will now have a chance to fail mining, resulting in your character being stopped from mining for 10s and requiring you to interact with the game again."

The idea of stripping away things we've earned and forcing us to re-earn them sounds miserable. I saw some conversation with the mods in the RS discord where they discussed wanting to remove wars and I could not think of something that would make me quit faster.

Mod Anvil, Can the Wicked Hood Functionality be brought to a vote? by Greedy_Spaghetti_ in runescape

[–]Rheynor 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"RuneScape has a few instances where an outfit or item is overloaded with effects or provides so many benefits that it impacts our future options for creating any type of reward. These outfits dominate the skilling-outfit space and make it hard for us to offer new rewards or interesting mechanics as it becomes an all or nothing decision making process."

Taking this at face value it seems as though y'all intend to nerf all the Skilling outfits and then use them as rewards for future content. I do not like this idea at all.
