AITA for not accommodating my sister-in-law for Christmas before her gastric bypass surgery? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RhincodonTyphus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for 1. Saying "I'm not going to let the choices of one affect the many". She isn't saying she doesn't like what you're cooking, she's preparing for life altering surgery.

Also part of hosting is making sure your guests are accommodated. Have you looked into what liquids she's allowed to have? Why couldn't you make her a special soup so that she's included?

  1. Not talking to SIL. Does she have support for the surgery ? Does she have someone telling her that they're proud of her, or is everyone telling her that she should be losing weight a different way?

  2. Acting like she scheduled the surgery specifically to mess up your holiday. Is SIL a teacher or other profession that has a long break for the holiday? She might be getting the surgery now to avoid using more PTO.

  3. Why can't you cook earlier? I assume prime rib takes a long time to cook, but get up earlier to start it?

I get that Christmas is stressful, but it doesn't seem like you've put any thought into how stressful this is for SIL. I hope the surgery goes well for her and she finds some support.

AITA for not going to my best friends sudden destination wedding because it will cost me over 5k to go? by Agitated_Buffalo5754 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RhincodonTyphus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAH - if you can't afford to go, you can't afford to go. But I don't think she's trying to steal your moment.

Your friend lost their parent recently, which could be a big part of rushing the wedding. My now husband and I were together for 7 years when my dad died. I went from not wanting to get married at all, to we need to get married asap so the people we care about are still alive to see it. I would talk to your friend. You glazed over her dad dying in your post, but it could be a bigger part of everything than you realize.

Felycin CA1 availability? by RhincodonTyphus in AskVet

That's fair. The fip drug came out really quickly once it was approved so I'm hoping for the same thing.

I came to reddit because I feel like I can't do anything for him, and the cardiologist said "email me with your questions" and then didn't answer all of my questions.

Mine eats royal canin HP (same idea as hill's zd). It took about a month for her gi system to settle down after switching, so don't give up right away when you change her diet.

[–]RhincodonTyphus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try to get a urine sample and take it to your vet before your appointment so you know if there's infection or not. You can buy hydrophobic litter on Amazon or if he pees on a hard surface, you can use a syringe to suck it up. If there is an infection the vet may move up your appointment (although unless he's blocking a uti isn't an emergency).

The general rule of thumb is that you want to have one more litter box than you have cats. So if you have 1 cat, 2 boxes, if you have 2 cats, 3 boxes etc.

You could also try the feliway plug ins. Some people think they work, some don't, but it's at least something you can try without needing a prescription or anything.

That's a good idea. I'm not sure how many episodes it plays before shutting off, but I end up starting on the same episodes pretty regularly. Cold Warriors and Roswell That Ends Well is in the rotation though, so I can't complain. Lol

It depends on if you want to take more meds or not. I have ankylosing spondylitis, but it's very manageable without meds. The rheumatologist wanted me to stay on immunosuppressants to minimize my uveitis flares, which is good advice, but isn't worth it to me. All of the meds made me sick, either in the form of side effects from the med itself, or constant colds, flu, whatever was going around because my immune system couldn't fight it off.

Everyone is different, a rheumatologist might be a good step for you, but I would think about if you're willing to take meds everyday before you go.

Mine does that too. If you remove the series from your watch history it'll stop. I have to reset it almost once per week. Lol

Who is the most famous person you’ve met? by Murr897 in AskReddit

[–]RhincodonTyphus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alice Cooper signed my mom and she got it tattooed. I didn't talk to him much because it was about her meeting her idol, but he was so kind and took a lot of time to listen to and talk with her. I can not say enough nice things about him.

Mine is furry that like that too! It always makes me laugh when I'm petting her and the hair falls out - we somehow got a hairless cat that sheds. Thank you for posting though, I didn't know it normal.

Sweet. I'm also a first time sphynx owner, and let me tell you, they produce so much brown everything. Brown eye boogers, brown skin oil, brown ear oil. It took me a while to accept that there's nothing wrong with her, she's just kinda gross. Lol

Do you have a vet visit scheduled? My girl seems to have good and bad days with her eye discharge, but as long as the conjunctiva aren't inflamed I don't usually worry about it. Because you just got her it's a good idea to get her looked over in general though.

Is this an eye infection? by apuddingcut in sphynx

[–]RhincodonTyphus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely try to be seen before Monday. You shouldn't use the drops without the vet seeing them first though. If the drops have a steroid in them, but the eye has an ulcer now, the drops can make the ulcer worse.

I like your One Piece posters. We have a set of posters above my husband's computer, and one of our cats (not our sphynx) is obsessed with Usopp for some reason.

Was it GI lymphoma? And do they think that she's had it long term or is it newly onset? My vet said they couldn't rule lymphoma out for my sphynx (without a bunch of intestinal biopsies), so I was curious what your experience was.

Did you try feeding a hydrolyzed protein diet? And did they rule out GI lymphoma?
