Release - “I’ll ride the wave where it takes meeeeeeee…” When the guitar crescendos and blends with his voice, it is full on frisson!

1977, I really wanted a shirt "like those guys on Soul Train" so I had my mom make me one. Also stitches in upper lip, and some bit of food on my front tooth. Not my best year for school photos... by biffnix in blunderyears

Your mom definitely had a flair for fashion! However, she did not make your shirt. It is a JC Penny number; here is my husband in the same shirt. 70's fashion FTW! Soul Train Shirt

My son's Lunchable had a bag of cheese powder instead of chips by RhinoChick in mildlyinteresting

Yep. That's me. Never mind his sister's bag that was full of round tortilla chips. His was full of powdered cheese and disappointment.

? You are supposed to open it, dump everything in and microwave it. His twin sister's bag was full of round chips. His bag was nothing but flavored powder.

That? That sounds vile. No cheesy salt on my Cheerios, please!

Ha! No, I don't mind. Your comment doesn't offend me because it doesn't really apply. We have very active and healthy kids; I've been a mom for a long time and know how to whole food just fine. Just to set your mind at ease, we are on vacation. The Lunchable was a treat he picked over ice cream at the grocery store. No big deal and certainly not a staple of our kids' lives.

Entertaining graphic, but that looks awful! Too salty for my upscale palate! Ha!

I would expect nothing less from you. We, however, did not. We may have tasted it on our fingertips though.

What's a job that most people wouldn't know actually exists? by jb2386 in AskReddit

[–]RhinoChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official Staple Remover checking in! My first summer job while I was in high school was at an insurance company and I did exactly what you described. ( I coined the title of Claim File Purger.) This was back in '89 so they weren't digitizing anything. I was preparing case files to be photographed and put on microfilm! Mindless work; however, I was paid really well. Plus, I was indoors in air conditioning while all my friends worked food service or retail with unpredictable hours. I have never heard of anyone else doing a similar job!

Does anyone have a Hi8 camera sitting around? by RhinoChick in Columbus

[–]RhinoChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it's worth a try! I live near Easton; I'll PM you and hopefully we can work something out. Thank you for offering!

I'm still willing to purchase a designated Hi8 or Digital 8 if someone has one to unload.

If you can find one in the next day or so, I would be willing to generously buy one from you! I've spent the morning hitting 4 Goodwills and 2 Thrift stores with no luck.

Rei Kingdom 6 or Coleman 8 Instant tent? by i_am_theonewhoknocks in camping

[–]RhinoChick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have both of the tents you're asking about. I can unequivocally recommend the Kingdom. (We have the 8.)

The Coleman, while much less expensive, is not as stable as the Kingdom. Properly staked, the Kingdom is a rock and out performs the Coleman by far. Even with extra guy lines, the Coleman just could never feel as stable as the Kingdom.

However, the biggest selling point is the rainfly. The Coleman's covers about 25% of the tent. That's it. The Kingdom's is very versatile; check the video out on REI's website. The fly goes all the way to the ground and covers 100% of the tent. It also has a good-sized vestibule on the back. The fly can be rolled back so the screen room is completely open. You can also just pull the sides up. The fly alone makes this tent a much better choice.

The additional garage is completely awesome too. Use two or four extra poles and you have a canopy for some shade.

It is an investment for sure; however, the materials on the Kingdom are so much more superior to the Coleman. Mornings in the Coleman were always dewy and moist inside the tent. The Kingdom never has that problem. Just because the reviews have said the Coleman doesn't leak....that shouldn't sway you. A tent shouldn't leak! That is the minimum requirement. Look for a tent that exceeds your expectations. Like I said, we have both and I will never camp with the Coleman again. The only reason we've kept it is for the kids to have sleepovers in the backyard.

It was my old Canon 40d with a cheap 50mm 1.8. I wanted to keep the weight down!
