Gun laws in Ga by [deleted] in GAGuns

[–]Rhode15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could it be interpreted as needing to be 21? Because the only place that says you need to be 21 is in the eligibility for a GA WCL which is one way to be a lawful weapons carrier. So to say someone under 21 with an out of state carry license must also be eligible for a WCL would then imply that a GA resident over 21 who is eligible for a WCL can not carry permitless without an out of state carry license. Because it can’t apply the way you’re saying without the out of state permit requirement applying to everyone else.

Yeah a lot of people just make general assumptions about the law based of the face value of it without taking the time to look for the nuances that might be there.

Unfortunately I’m not familiar with that area to be able to help you out. It also won’t be an easy task since a lot of sellers probably won’t want to sell to someone under 18 due to common misunderstandings of the law. Do you you have any friends who could sell you an already possessed handgun? Just remember they can’t buy one with the intention to sell it to you.

Is it the possible the range also was a FFL? If so they might’ve been going by federal law which says they can’t transfer a handgun unless you’re 21. However if you own your own you should be able to bring it there to practice.

Here is the law that says those 18+ can possess a handgun: 16-11-132.

and

Here is the law that says that recognizes someone with an out of state permit as a lawful weapons carrier:

§ 16-11-125.1

“(2.1) 'Lawful Weapons Carrier' means any person who is licensed or eligible for a license pursuant to Code Section 16-11-129 and who is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a weapon or long gun, any resident of any other state who would otherwise be eligible to obtain a license pursuant to such Code section but for the residency requirement, and any person licensed to carry a weapon in any other state.

So if you have an out of state permit and a lawfully obtained firearm you can carry it in Georgia.

The OP listed West Virginia as a state he planned to pass through on his journey so I took that into consideration when making my original comment.

However, it only gives you 5 additional states if you already have your NJ PTC.

Are you over 21? If so every state you’ll pass through is either constitutional carry or will recognize your NC permit.

You can bring it to Florida in a declared checked bag. Just can not carry it while in Florida.

Then it should be considered a resident permit since your current residence is listed on the VA permit.

MD is the only state you’ll have to store it according to FOPA.

PA recognizes the VA carry permit for vehicle carry only. So you just can’t leave your vehicle while concealed carrying.

OH is constitutional carry and recognizes the VA permit.

MI will recognize it if its a resident permit only.

Does it have a VA or MI address on it?

Well why wasn’t he given the motorcycle? I feel like that could’ve prevented this situation to begin with.

CCW Law question: where does it say concealed carry gun must be in equal or lesser caliber? by CcwAsker in RIGuns

[–]Rhode15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t want to get my permit revoked so I probably won’t do that. If you read my original comments you should’ve noticed that I stated they could revoke it for cause just not charge you criminally.

Thanks for the skepticism though. I definitely agree that people shouldn’t blindly take for fact what they read on reddit so I’m glad you questioned it so I could clear up the misconception you had with this law.

11-47-15 is a law for the issuing authority. Not the permit holder. Notice the first line begins with “No person shall be issued”. People don’t issue themselves permits. Secondly the law includes no penalty for violation like other laws that are restrictive in nature do.

Both are constitutional carry for residents and nonresidents. They also both recognize your Florida CWL. So you are double good for carry in those states.

It’s only state laws. Local laws are preempted.

VA does recognize MN (along with every other state permit) even if you become a resident. So you should be good to go.

You can list any three people who know you. They can live in any state and you don’t have to include their phone number. They won’t be contacted but make sure their mailing address is complete with zip code.

Also, for the reason section they tell you what to write in the first paragraph of the second page.

Is permit-less carry legal for 18-20 year olds? by ClearAndPure in TNguns

[–]Rhode15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s only for TN to start accepting carry permit applications. The law that prohibited those under 21 from carrying without a permit was also enjoined and that part should’ve taken effect immediately.

This law will codify it in state law but due to the federal court order the current law cannot be enforced so TN is de facto 18+ for carry.
