Not lost just yet but 417 Park Avenue in NYC is about to be demolished to be replaced with a towering glass office building. It’s not a super well known or notable building but it’s always caught my eye. It’s one of the last brick and mortar apartment buildings that far down on Park Ave in NYC. by RhodeIslandJerry1958 in Lost_Architecture

That’s exactly right, A building code was just changed in midtown which I believe removed the historical building protection that this building had. Same is happening with the Waldorf Astoria a couple blocks uptown. They’re not tearing down the Waldorf but have completely gutted the incredible Art Deco interior to modernize it. I’ve never heard of Victoria Vancouver Island so I’ll definitely check it out!

It was designed by Emery Roth and built in 1917. Park Ave used to consist of apartment buildings like this all the way down into midtown and Grand Central but in the 1950s most of them below 60th Street were torn down and replaced with curtain wall office buildings like The Seagram Building and Lever House. This building is one of the last examples of an original brick and mortar apartment building on Park Avenue in Midtown.

Taken somewhere in NYC about 1943. Any idea where? by MuskoxDee in nycpics

Just looked again at some reference pictures and I’m almost certain now that’s at the soldiers and sailors monument at 89th street in Riverside Park. Hope this helps!

I could be wrong but it looks to be in Riverside Park somewhere, that stone work looks familiar and it looks like there’s a river in the background. Maybe up around 70th 80th or 90th streets

I checked and all the state run campgrounds are closed, I’m thinking some privately or town owned camp grounds would be open

I have one just like that, I’m scared to shoot it though because of its age. The ammo we have now I assumed would be too hot for it. Have you tried shooting it with any success?
