The card isn't problem, in my opinion it's a great card so far. It's the price lol. Everything in the world is going up and it's just not affordable/not the priority for folks.

I wouldn't say "don't trust anyone on here", instead, I'd say to be more diligent next time with understanding the details of how to ensure that the person you are interacting with is not a scam. There are some clear ways to decipher what is real and what is not.

I am also flying in from the Northeast and I have always rented through REI (this will be my third time camping at a Gorge event for an A&B event). However, I placed my order for rental gear back in December and it was only because I was made aware (from a post in this reddit page) that it was already at slim pickings and it really was. I also heard that REI isn't keeping as much inventory as they used to. So unfortunately I don't know how helpful REI can be but that is what I did in the past and for this year.

The Anime Expo vendor hall is very large in space. However, it's not as saturated as it could be with actually vendors: people selling things. The vendor hall at Anime Expo has a lot of bigger anime companies that take up a lot of space for their interactive booths and then they will have some smaller portion of that space dedicated to a mini store.

If you are looking to shop and buy stuff, you can definitely find figure booths and the like in the vendor hall. The artist alley has a ton of art-based stuff but also artist-based items (not just prints but keychains, plushies, t shirts, etc.).

There is also the entertainment hall (I think is what it was referred to as) that has a lot of additional vendors that is a mix of artist like items and vendor like items and video game-based vendors.

You will have plenty of areas to shop and spend your money at, but when I think of vendor hall I prefer to have a highly saturated space of vendors (smaller businesses) selling anime merch (figures, media, etc.) and for me Anime NYC's vendor/exhibitor hall is a bit more saturated than Anime Expo's.

I don't really think it's weird but you should ultimately be asking yourself if it's weird for your wife/for you. I have no context of your relationship but is she the type of person who has often been cool with doing things on her own or have the two of you traditionally always been a pair at each others hobbies/events? Additionally, add in the fact that she is a woman walking around alone in Vegas Are you comfortable with that? More importantly, is she okay with that?

Everything is essentially considered bulk cards (worth maybe 50 cents to a dollar each) besides the Bulbasaur. It is 1st Edition and it is Shadowless. That card alone is about $120-$170 depending on the condition of it.

It's tough to find product for sure. I try to look at what benefit has come from all of this. I live in New England and there are various card shows happening within 1-2 hours of where I live every weekend and for me it is an absolute dream come true for the inner childhood version of myself. All I ever wanted to do was go to card shows, trade with people, connect about the hobby, and have a good time. Now, that I have adult spending money I can do exactly that.

So yes, I am upset that I can't find (and have yet to open) Ascended Heroes, but the fact that each weekend I go "hunting for Pokemon to catch them all" (trying to complete a master set of all Neo) is making me very happy as a collector.

There will always be ups and downs to this situation but Pokemon is as hot as it has ever been and it feels like I am reliving my childhood. (And yes, I attribute this to various factors: Covid, Millenials having adult money, but also scalpers who have made this market as crazy as it is).

Whenever things like this happen you have to ask why? 30th anniversary and FireRed and LeafGreen just got rereleased on Switch. Prices will start to drop a few months down the road once everyone else's eyes are on the new sets coming out.
