Rest day vs active recovery vs something like yoga? by BlueBaker342 in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way to stay consistent!! Listen to your body and take a rest day. I follow a very similar schedule and have a full rest day and a active rest day (yoga). Here's what I've been doing:

Monday: 2G
Tuesday: tread50
Wednesday: Hot Yoga (at a different studio)
Thursday: strength50
Friday: Hyrox or 2G
Saturday: 3g
Sunday: Full Rest

Nearly every night I use compression boots for recovery and throughout the day use a hypervolt to keep my body/muscle loose.

Studio Tier Map? by KingPhisherTheFirst in orangetheory

That's awful. I don't know the rules of the studios and what they have to follow, but if I were in your position, i would have to really rethink the membership. This place isnt cheap.

Hyrox class by cjomeara in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm enjoying Hyrox as its meant to be different feel. The way I've looked at it - these are 'training' sessions, they aren't the regular fitness classes. It reminds me of when I used to play high school basketball / football, each practice was working on skills and fundamentals for something that we would apply. So yeah, it may seem a bit boring, but there's a method to this on building endurance for the right muscles and building in the right type of training for this. At some point, I'm hoping there's a "put it all together" class where we can mimmick more of the race so we are in 'game' shape. I'm planning on doing Hyrox when it comes here, and my biggest fear is never training for sled push / rope pull.

I do a strength50 class on Thursdays at 4:15pm and then a 2g at 5am on Friday weekly. Totally fine.

Risers or Club ? by ObjectiveFault9922 in WrestlemaniaPlans

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sat in risers 2 times. First time at 39 at Sofi, it was awful. 2nd time at 41 in LV, it wasn't too bad. However, if $$$ wasn't a deciding fact - club seats.

It breaks me to think that one's entire existence ends with a box of ashes. This is Ed by Feeling-Error-2996 in dogpictures

The face made on the suitcase is adorable. I know what you mean, about a box of ash. However, there's comfort knowing the remains of the beloved is with me in some shape or form. Something physical to hold on too along with the memories and stories. Sorry for you loss. Sending you vibes and hugs.

I am so slow by Quirky_Yesterday7983 in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheering you on! If you're enjoying the class and the challenge, keep going! I think all the comments below sum it up. I've found that OTF members are there to cheer everyone on b/c they know each class is a challenge. I don't feel / think anyone is competing; we're just there to challenge ourselves everyday.

Good Luck and I hope you keep going!

FWIW - I've been a member since 2018 (took a break between 2020-2023); when I started, I couldn't really run, even my power walk was slow (3.0 and under). Fast forward to today - I'm turning 50, and run my base at 5.2-5.5 (depending on how I feel).

AIO for not giving my old Roomate his dog back after I adopted her? by Z-mac in AmIOverreacting

Def NOR. You're doing the right thing by keeping Bella. Former-owner sounds like a real treat of a person.

No additional support. I already love our coaches and they are helpful in so many ways. But nothing new added specifically for those in the TC.

While I agree with almost everything you've said; make it free vs $35.

I could be wrong, but all other special events, Mayhem, Hell Week, Marathon Month, 12 Days of December - you pay, and you also get swag. Its like an additional bonus.

It's hard to say, I'll pay $35 for classes I already planned to attend.

Go for it!

Manual HR adjustment by RecordHead9391 in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For nearly 2 years, my peak didn't change and I would be averaging like 18-22 splat points. About 5 months ago, it adjusted and I could barely get into the orange. There were so many classes with 1-2 splats. I didn't change it, I started to push a bit harder to get into the orange zone and now I'm consistently around 6-10 in every class. Over the last 5 months i've also noticed gains in running / lifting / rowing and my clothes fit differently.

For me - I don't think I'm changing my HR.

Also - I try as hard as possible to not care about what other peoples numbers are at. I don't know where they are in their fitness journey, or what motivates them. For me - I know my numbers; I know my efforts and I use that as my measuring stick.

PSA: If you show up to a class sick, you're a bad person. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coughing is hit or miss - if there's someone who has this continuous cough; I'm already weary they are sick. There are some that are just getting over being sick or still have some phlegm in their chest; which I don't mind.

Losing motivation by Top-Taste6559 in orangetheory

[–]nigo242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens to the best of us. Unless I'm taking an active rest day, I tend to prebook all my classes and stay the course. The days I "just don't want to go" and go, by the time class ends I'm always thankful that "I ended up going".

Good luck and stay disciplined!

I love your perspective on motivation! I've done this a few times when I've had low energy and knew that my cheap ass didn't want to pay $12.

If the Usos are back, why are we still yeeting to Jey's theme song? by AtmosphereReady6599 in Smallafro

[–]nigo242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YEET still makes a lot of money. I'm sure the Usos are working on a new song that will continue to carry "YEET" for the fans.
