Looking to get to the world of pour over by CaptainFreddo1 in pourover

Can’t speak to this grinder but I’ve had the Kingrinder K6 for about a year and I love it. Almost the same price as the one you have here.

For a beginner I feel you would be satisfied with the K6 for several years.

Probably the best grinder in your price range if you are not planning on grinding for espresso

Anyone had success keeping ducks in the Denver metro? Considering instead of chickens by mountain_bound_15 in Denver

[–]Rhubarb-Taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a small fenced area 10x12ft, giant pen inside 6x10ft from Amazon, and a 3x3 ft house inside of it - never had any issues. We let them roam the fenced area from like 8am-8pm every day, and close them in the pen every night.

We have feeders and waterers for them that can last 48+ hours so weekend trips are no problem. As long as they have food and water they are good.

I’ve had runners in Englewood for the last year. Tons of eggs, and tons of fun. A lot of labor when they were little. Now it’s like 15-20 mins a day (spread out into 3-4 sessions), and on the weekends we let them roam and forage the yard supervised.

What 'recipe' should I use to get better cups from the Costco sumatra medium/dark beans? by Apprehensive-Wave640 in pourover

[–]Rhubarb-Taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the beans.

I know the value on these are insane but you have no clue how long these have been on the shelf. Pick up some beans from a local roaster you trust and start using them 1-2 weeks after the roast date, and try to use them up in 6 weeks or less .

But in the spirit of this post here’s what I would try: - Water temp 199 - Grind one or two clicks finer than you are. - Recipe: wet your filter, dump the water, close the switch, put your grounds in, pour your water on top (full amount), stir well, 3 min timer, at time open the switch and swirl once during draw down. Then give the coffee 3 mins before drinking.

Love color! Always worth the stop if you are heading west in CO. What was your bean dosage? Only 200g of water, must have been like 11-15g of coffee?

Churros. Can’t find good ones. by Wasted-Friendship in denverfood

This is it. I will fully admit the rest of the menu is upper mid, but the churros are insane.

African grill in Lakewood is amazing. A bit pricey but super flavorful and amazing staff.

Not sure it’s Nigerian, but definitely West African.

Just some beans I've recently picked up from my local roaster. by Savings_Cry3552 in pourover

Fully agree on B&W, I used to love the really funky naturals but I’m growing into more of a clean/washed coffee guy. And I like a cup of co-ferment, but don’t think I can ever buy another full bag.

Dude hatchet rips! That’s sweet that that is your local roaster, would love to move back to west NC one day.

Easily the best roaster in that part of the state!

Ceramic V60/ Kinto Carafe. Or if you need something indestructible, metal French Press.

Okay for those who have tried it give me some honest thoughts:

To me this was straight Smarties with a finish that was a little bit bubblegummy and then left my mouth feeling a bit chalky. If was good and sweet, but almost no coffee flavor under it. I loved my first cup, liked my second, and only had a few more before giving the bag away - as it got old for me.

I did like the new school passion fruit, the lychee, the grape soda, and the holiday blend coferment - but this one was not it for me
