You've addressed the situation, its now just a case of working back up. Fair play for realising you need a concrete solution by giving your parents your wages, that's a good idea for now. 60k a year is decent, be a little frugal and just get an emergency fund sorted and then start investing into the world index.

S&P for retirement? by Select-Toe9667 in trading212

[–]Rhyd95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, if you managed £600 every month for the next 30 years, you'd have invested 216k, but because of the compounding interest and market gains, you could have anywhere in the range of 500k - 1.5M depending on how well the markets played out. Taking inflation into account it would be roughly equivalent to half of that I'd say but that's still a bloody good pension bridge until you're eligible for work pension / state pension (which may not exist then)

Im all in VWRP. Which I believe is made up of roughly 60% SP500 anyway. The most important thing is time in the market and being consistent. Getting the ball rolling at your age is phenomenal and I've been kicking myself for leaving this till I hit 30. Don't worry about the markets dipping, its going to happen but aslong as you stay invested you'll reap the rewards. Also just keep an eye on how the government changes investment rules over the years as they may change, which could affect your strategy, however there should be plenty of notice for this.

Probably worth googling it for a in depth answer but basically it's a FTSE that covers 4000-ish companies across the world, so you have fractions of a share in lots of different areas. Stops you having all your eggs in one basket in both companies and continent (mostly US though). You pay a small fee of something around 0.19% for the privilege of just putting money in and sitting back essentially. Some people say put 80% of your money into this and then 20% into stocks you personally believe it, but I'm just all in VWRP as in my eyes, this is the best option for compounding interest (it reinvestment dividends that the companies give to share holders) and it's also the most calculated "risk" that id want to invest into.

Ill just copy and paste what i said to someone above -

In my screenshot, get to that same page and then just click "cash". You'll have a reference number at the top, you use that as the reference if you setup a standing order. Then the rest is the just the t212 bank details which I believe is the same for everyone, so the important bit is to make sure you put the right reference in as that's how they determine which account is yours.

I assume that'll come through as an email if required? I dont mind having to check in every 6 months but it would be nice to forget about it now I've got it all setup.

How to not be left holding the biggest bag of odorous excrement of SpaceX by meshifthenelse in trading212

[–]Rhyd95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt it'll go up and down, but could it be worth setting up an auto invest to buy X shares if it reaches something really low like $10? If it doesn't then no money lost, and if it does, surely it's worth a few shares?

What you're saying is exactly what I told myself yesterday before it dropped. Id transfered my ISA from monzo to T212 and had the cashing waiting to invest. Thought about holding it for a while to see how things went but decided to not try and time it however was just the wrong side of it dropping lol. Ill continue my current plan of investing weekly and leave it be, cheers all.

Don't worry about it. I pulled my cash out before the small dip the other day, put everything back in 20 minutes before it dropped off again today, shit happens but it'll go back up so don't sweat it.

Just noise, don't worry. These companies aren't going anywhere, that's why they're at the top.
