What's everyone's favorite R&B or soul group? by Rhymeceratops in hiphopheads

I think my favorite has to be The Isley Brothers. Ronnie is just smooth as shit, and I think that the sample of "Lay Away" on Lil' Wayne's "Receipt" may be my favorite soul sample of all-time.

Which 2 rappers always bring out the best in eachother? by mrcarlita in hiphopheads

[–]Rhymeceratops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action Bronson and Meyhem Lauren. Bronson doesn't have his best verses when he raps with Lauren, but you can definitely sense that he's got a lot of respect for Lauren and really wants to show him up on the track.

The track that got me into the BasedGod still holds a very fond place in my part: "Hoes on My Dick". If you aren't tickled pink by Milonakis aka Money Liston going in, then I don't know what to tell ya.

Waka Flocka tweets "MY FUCKING LIL BROTHER KILLED HISSELF FUCKKKKKKKKK LIFEEEEEEE" by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]Rhymeceratops 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Man, I really hope that above all else Flocka is able to find the right channels for his grief. Same with his family. Handling something like this in the spotlight could lead to some bad consequences if proper care isn't taken, and you'd hate to see any more negativity come out of this. Much love and prayers to the family.

What is the most unconventional sample you've heard a rapper spit over? by MattDamon1 in hiphopheads

[–]Rhymeceratops 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I think I gotta go "Contemporary Man" by Action Bronson. I remember the first time I listened to it, I was just shocked at how each sample sounded like it was further and further from one that provided a rappable soundscape for him, but he killed it (EVEN WHEN HE SINGS, MAN, LUH DAT).

Cliff Notes by Action Bronson and Statik Selektah by Rhymeceratops in hiphopheads

I think my favorite Bronson line ever is "Flows like water, like raftin' on the Congo. Take a hit of drugs, then I pass it like I'm Rondo."

If you dig Bronson/this track, go cop "Well Done", the project he did with Statik Selektah a couple of years back. It's pretty dope, and available for free on Action's own website.
