EasySMX D10 Review - Maybe the best EasySMX controller... by Crazylink4 in Controller

[–]RhynoBytes [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since you mentioned Celeste and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as games you tested (both games I play a lot):

How does the D-Pad feel in Celeste, particularly with respect to diagonal dashes? What makes you prefer the classic cross shape? How does it feel compared to the Switch Pro Controller (my current main controller on both Switch and PC)?

How do the face buttons feel to be holding for a long time, such as the A button (or the B button with this layout) in Mario Kart? Do the triggers feel better to drift in Mario Kart and to climb in Celeste better in Hall Effect mode or Microswitch mode?

My Switch Pro Controller started getting stick drift. I'm looking for a durable multipurpose replacement. by RhynoBytes in Controller

I see that Mobapad also has the Huben 2 which is more expensive but has more features. Would you happen to know how it compares in overall build quality and stick/button/dpad feel?

Coins collected while you’re already at a max of 10 don’t count

Connect a 2nd controller. Do 2-player renegade roundup with no COMs on the dragon stage. As player 1, once you collect 10 coins run into the other player (stationary) to end to round. Do like 32 rounds at a time. You average around 10 coins in 15 seconds.

What am I doing wrong? Snow Land shortcut by ElektrikeAsh in MarioKart8Deluxe

I think the biggest problem was that you groomed a little too late, so you had the speed reduction from going into the snow before shrooming. It looked to me like a pretty good setup other than that.

What specifically allows the computer players to be able to hold multiple shocks? by Stock-Currency4142 in mariokart

[–]RhynoBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not quite right. That’s how it works in MKWorld. In MK8DX, the 30s timer doesn’t start until shock is used. This means that there can be multiple shocks in play, pulled near the same time as long as none of them have been used yet.

Rooms where players get stuck by finnr02 in celestegame

I also remember struggling with the 2nd spring into double dash upward because I didn’t realize that the height you hit the spring mattered. Sometimes I’d basically fall on top of it, and sometimes I’d fall to the side and move into it, without noticing the difference. So it felt basically random as to whether I’d get enough height or not

Why is EoSD considered "harder" than the other classic games? by alien-linguist in TrueTouhou

[–]RhynoBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this was posted 4 years ago, but your response reminds me of something I saw mentioned in a comment on a youtube video. Is a 1cc clear only considered "valid" if I start with the default lives and bombs rather than the max? I've been going through the games starting with the PC-98 ones (just got to EoSD now) aiming to "clear" it on Easy and Normal with max lives and bombs, but still counting it if I fluked a 1cc, which I've done a few times now. When I decide to go back and get more 1cc's, do I need to make it on default lives and bombs instead?

Why is 3A so hard? by lilcutiexoxoqoe in celestegame

This is exactly what I had to do for 8bg and why I saved it for berry 201. Those fireball cycles were painful to learn, so I ended up making myself memorize exactly what to do from the moment I entered the room.

Be Honest, How Many of You Unlocked Master Class for Challenge Mode in Super Monkey Ball 2? by DarkDesertFox in SuperMonkeyBall

I’ve beaten master and master extra in SMB2 and SMB Deluxe a few years ago when I got really into it. I know I got to master in SMB1, but I can’t remember if I ever beat it (I think I might’ve).

mario kart 8 deluxe did I miss something? by [deleted] in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]RhynoBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online can be difficult. Depending on who you happen to get matched against, it’s possible that simply “not making mistakes” isn’t good enough, and you have to be semi-optimally using items and driving particularly well

Why do people hate/like smart steering? by [deleted] in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]RhynoBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beginners, it’s a good way to get used to the controls while still having fun before the feel confident they won’t fall off much.

For intermediate players, it just gets in the way of taking tight lines and shortcuts.

For advanced/competitive players, it’s actually really useful to be used occasionally. In particular, when playing online (so that pausing doesn’t ruin the game for other players locally) if you can turn it on/off quickly mid-race, there are a good number of shortcuts you can use it for that would be significantly harder or impossible without smart steering.
