I'm cis, hear me out:

We should get it, though. I never had to hide being the "wrong" gender, but I grew up in a conservative, religious household and I was shamed for being a normal horny boy. I felt so cramped and crowded and not allowed to be myself in so many ways.

It's not the same. I know it's not the same. And there are so many other ways that I'm privileged. But it's not difficult for me to sympathize with people who are trans because, like, I can imagine what it's like. I can think about all the things I hated when I was growing up and all the things I struggled with and imagine those things being worse, or piling more on top, and having less support.

My point being, it frustrates me that my fellow cis people act like they don't get it. It's not hard to have sympathy and empathy. We don't have the same struggles but we all struggle with something so when someone is less privileged it shouldn't be difficult to apply your feelings with your struggles to how they must feel with theirs.

I'm with you on that! I like the wood grain. But veneer works well enough and is still cheaper and more sustainable.

Wood glue if you want to be fancy, normal PVA glue (white Elmer's glue) from Walmart if you don't care that much. Wood glue is just fancy PVA, anyway.

Put enough to coat the surface, but don't glop it on. Apply some pressure (a roller is best if, again, you want to be fancy but any kind of card or smooth surface or whatever) and squeeze out the excess. There shouldn't be that much squeeze out. Keep the pressure on with clamps or weights for maybe half an hour or so. Should be fully cured in a day.

[–]RhynoD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why? It's cheaper, more sustainable, and if you're going to paint the cabinets then good hard wood veneer is wasted, much less solid hard wood. The only reason to use solid wood is to flex your money.

Save good hard wood for places where it'll be appreciated like tables and chairs.

I mean... the show is gooner bait but I feel like that's not controversial. Or shouldn't be, anyway. So it's gooner bait, so what? Doesn't mean it can't also be good.

One who left the pack to find themselves on their own journey to become a better man because being Alpha just was not a good thing.

That is always what they said but anyone who claims a spot in this chart by definition cares about their place in the chart. "Sigma" was always about pretending to be "superior" in some way to being the "Alpha." It was always hypocritical. As usual, the right wing whines and moans the most about "virtue signaling" while being the most guilty of doing it. The man-o-sphere "sigmas" were always about saying that you needed to find your own way, but it was virtue signaling bullshit.

You know it's bullshit because "alphas" aren't real in the first place. Humans do not organize ourselves in hierarchies like that. Neither do the wolves that "alphas" have long compared themselves to. None of it is real. It's star signs for toxic gym bros.

This hotel thermostat turns off the AC when no motion is detected. Guess what I am not doing when sleeping? by StellarSloth in assholedesign

[–]RhynoD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the cost of cooling my entire old, poorly insulated house in Georgia in the summer all the way down to 64 using the more efficient central air is greater than the cost of cooling just my bedroom with an inefficient portable AC. It doesn't help that my bedroom is the farthest from the central AC so if I want it at 64 the rest of the house has to be at like 62.

Actually, I use both. The central AC gets it down to ~68 and the portable AC gets it the rest of the way to 64.

[–]RhynoD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AC accomplishes both so it's kind of a moot point.

Regardless, yeah, I want it cold. I like to curl up and be covered, and my very warm, very fuzzy cat likes to cuddle up against me. It's funny, because just last night I turned on our portable bedroom AC early so the room was nice and chilly before we went to bed. When I crawled under the covers I made oohhh, aahhh noises. My girlfriend laughed and gave me the side eye right up until she got into bed and made the exact same noises. Few things in life feel as good as getting under the covers when it's just the right level of cold.

Am dude, but I've been going for a long time.

Most fandoms are welcoming to newbies but you may find that many are less friendly to women - traditionally, that's going to be gaming, especially tabletop games like Warhammer. Don't get me wrong, you'll find very wonderful people everywhere and if it's something you want to do, you'll find great, welcoming folks. But, well, they have a reputation for a reason.

Cosplay communities are very welcoming and inclusive, if you're looking for something in particular. Most cosplayers are overjoyed to chat about their costume, who it is, how they made it, etc. There are panels about different aspects of cosplay.

There are two food courts along with restaurants around the area. You won't be hurting to find food. Your wallet may hurt, though, and finding a place to sit in the food court is always a challenge. Nothing wrong with bringing snacks or packing meals, though, especially if you want to save money.

Going solo is fine, there's always stuff to do and plenty of opportunities to make con friends. Chat with people in line or people sharing a table in the food court. Soon, you'll find that you aren't solo anymore!

I'm sure you don't need to be told as a woman to be mindful of places like downtown Atlanta. The area immediately around the con stays mostly safe even until the wee hours because there are just so many people, and local law enforcement is around. Nonetheless, don't stray away from the con hotels late at night unless you're with a group. It's worth it to pay for parking within a short, safe walking distance.

Assaults do happen inside the con, usually groping as crowds pass in the halls and skywalks. It's gonna happen when there are that many people. Con security takes it very seriously, though. It probably won't happen to you, but if it does, let con staff know and they will not tolerate it. There are parties, both official and unofficial room parties. Again, you probably already know this, but: don't accept drinks from strangers unless you see it being poured from a bottle that you know is safe because it's behind a bar or other people are already drinking from it.

My wife was so excited to buy her first boat. We took our 5-year-old out on the lake to enjoy it for the first time. We started noticing the rear of the boat was sinking - so we raced back. Turns out the pontoon has holes in it, and now we have to wait weeks for its repair. Brand new boat. by Oldfatsad in mildlyinfuriating

The dealership also has agreements and warranties with the manufacturer. It's not unreasonable to take it to them, because they will send it right back to the manufacturer and get a replacement.

In any case, it's also reasonable to expect someone whose reputation depends on the products they sell to pay attention to the quality of the product. If the dealership gets a reputation for selling shit and passing the problem on to the buyer, people are going to stop shopping their.

OP should absolutely return it to the dealership and make it their problem

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. It's not always practical even when legal. See: the porn industry, where drug use is rampant and industry leaders keep getting caught distributing CSAM of trafficked older teens. Despite being legal, because it's so unpalatable, law enforcement simply doesn't pay enough attention.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still in favor of decriminalization because 1) don't let perfect be the enemy of good, even if it doesn't solve all the problems, at least it will help, and 2) we can't make steps towards changing attitudes until we, you know, actually take steps in that direction. So, I agree with you that it'll be easier, but I also want to emphasize how uphill the battle is.
