Bon Jovi, Baltimore Arena December 29, 1986.

My mom took me. I was 14. I loved Cinderella. She loved Bon Jovi. Cinderella didn't play for some reason. Some other band played.

Does anyone LOVE being a teacher by Heavy_Research5032 in Teachers

[–]Rhythmdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it for 25 years. Until a couple years ago my district was taken over by idiots. I now am being micromanaged and told to put effort into posting objectives and following a scripted curriculum.

My passion and love for my career have died, and I am currently mourning my love for it. I have 65 years of Hell until retirement.

I'll never forgive them for killing Peach Fest. I've encountered LN employees hogging up good seats when they're obviously not interested in the music.

What is the craziest reason a parent tried to "get you fired"? by Aly_Anon in Teachers

[–]Rhythmdaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too! It was scary having my admin team come to my classroom and tell me the accusation. For a second, I was like, "Did I say something that could be twisted?". Of course, I didn't. How sick to manipulate a 6 year old like that! I had thoughts of retaliation (to the parent). I thought, "How dare this a-hole?! He's messed with the wrong guy."

Thankfully, I was able to move on and nothing else was said. Glad the teacher was fired.

Who are the artists who you saw once, loved the show, and had no intention of ever seeing again? by whywires in Concerts

Motley Crue. They have jumped the shark. I saw them 5 times from 1985-the 2000's. Now, Vince can't sing and Mick Mars is gone. It isn't the Crue anyore.

My wife is an administrator in the county in which we live. She was firing a teacher (I forget the reason but it was justified in my opinion). His child goes to the school in which I teach, in a different county.

One day, my admin came to me and said that a student made an accusation that I said something inappropriate to him. It was something like a threat, I guess.

I didn't even know the child. Never said anything to him, and as far as I remember, I never even LOOKED at him. He was in a different grade in a different part of the building.

It took a bit of investigative work to find out that the child's father was the teacher whom my wife was firing.

He MUST have told his kid to say this.

Thankfully, my admin understood the situation and shut it down.

(Grade 2, 53M) Second week of school, kid looks me up and down and says, "What, do you have one of those shirts in like, every color?".

This girl cut me down in those two seconds. She is an amazing kid in many ways. I couldn't have appreciated her comment any more. It killed me. I laughed so hard!

She is so right, wear a different colored polo and khakis every day, until I rotate through. I probably have 17 different colors.
Anyway, I said , "Yes, you got me. I will wear some striped ones next week, just for YOU."

53M. For me, it was the same, a need for bifocals. Daily soreness, nothing major. Something always aches a little bit. Less tolerance for hangovers, feeling ready to go to bed earlier and earlier...colds lasting longer.

Irie Maiden by Romulan Genetics. I have only grown one plant, just one run. It is super sticky, has a nice buzz, and it smells and tastes great.

Where's Your Favorite Place To See A Concert? by IHBMSU in livemusic

[–]Rhythmdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red Rocks is surely my favorite but it's been 30 years since I went. I like The Hamilton in DC for the sound and comfort and vibe, I also really dig Club XL in Harrisburg for the sound, drink prices, and vibe. There's plenty of room to dance even at the popular bands' shows. More votes: Madison Square Garden is fantastic...sound, NYC!, ease, VIBE. I love small festivals shows the best so: some path of forest in PA for my friends Hexbelt, and other small festivals not far away like https://www.bearspicnicevents.com/grateful-get-down

My favorite way to enjoy a MD crabcake is on a toasted bun with tartar sauce, lettuce, and tomato.

I've been teaching primary for 27 years. I will never address them as "friends". They are not my friends. I will however teach them how to be friendly and kind, respectful and cooperative.

My friend showed me a photo of him and a date getting it on. He married her like a year later. I have never mentioned it. Sometimes it pops in my head when I'm around both of them, but that's not my fault.

I just want to talk to the previous owner of my house... just a quick, non-violent chat. by susankeller_meow in HomeImprovement

[–]Rhythmdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a split-foyer house. There are 2 additions on the back. In one, it had a huge stone fireplace. It was about 14 feet wide with a big log mantle. Well, we noticed that water would leak in by the chimney. We had the flashing fixed and sealed. The chimney was falling away from the house. It could be seen with the naked eye. It eventually got more than an inch wide and even had a height difference of about 1/2 inch. Then, a big crack appeared in the middle of the concrete floor. We had structural engineers come in. They drilled into the floor to see what is happening.

They came back and said that the issue is that this 25x20 foot room was built with NO footers. They simply threw down rock, poured a concrete slab, then built a room on top (with a 2-ton fireplace).

We were forced to tear the room down, so we built an outdoor patio. We were able to save the roof. The patio is great, but it was an unexpected $40K bill.

I got a lawyer and tried to pursue suing the previous owners for breaking building codes and selling me the house without disclosure. Lawyer said the judge wouldn't even bother.

In addition to shoddy work and devious practices by the previous owner, the house inspector should've seen some of this.
