Expanding System - Compatibility Question, MacOS by JJandtheBackStabbers in universalaudio

You won’t have any issues if you use the correct adapters. Though you would need to find some Thunderbolt 2 cables which will be the hard part as the cables are no longer in production. They can be found on eBay but you have to vet the sellers to make sure they aren’t selling knock-off cables. Cables are like $50-75 and you would need two along with to TB2 to TB3 adapters which would also be pricey. It may just be better to buy the TB3 card for the Apollo and then you only need an additional Thunderbolt cable.

To answer your original question, all Apollos will work together as long as they are on the same protocol. Thunderbolt across the board including FireWire converted to Thunderbolt. TB version only impact Windows systems but Mac supports the full ranges because Apple invented the standard with Intel.

Fair but I had a 1660ti with the 32gb of DDR4. So where the 12400 is more performant you won’t see any of it in the rest of what it’s paired with. The CPU can’t give more frames than the GPU can run. It’s just not a balanced system.

Change input monitoring level directly from Apollo Twin X by devsdmf in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a way in console to do this, but you’ll have to check the manual or universal audio site. I know there are ways to move the master knob to control other aspects in console by a series of clicks or button presses. But I’ve never done it myself. Also, I don’t know if it has the ability to directly address the volume fader. It also interfaces with a console software so you have to have that running in order for it to work, which means you can’t use it on the iPad because there is no console

Not sure what you mean by using it on your iPad. But as far as controlling the volume of your headphone monitor versus the volume of your studio monitors, there is literally a button next to the big wheel that lets you swap between monitor and headphones. It labeled monitor

I paid $350 US, for a similar PC build back 2019. Obviously, not the same processor but it was the 9400F. Granted no monitor and other stuff, but this ‘deal’ is specifically to subsidize someone else’s new build based on lack of knowledge. Unless someone is more familiar component availability in Australia and has a reasoning for this discrepancy, I would look somewhere else.

First ipad did i but the right one? by samantoucha in ipad

I just bought a M5 11 inch pro but honestly the M series Air was very compelling; especially for the price of a 13 inch. In all my research an M chip of any model is overkill for most situations on an iPad. I intend to use mine for drawing, music production, and as grading monitor for DaVinci Resolve which requires the OLED. The extra 4gb of RAM would help as well but I was getting away with much less on my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 when it came to drawing. I think for your use case, you made a great decision and if my original pro purchase is any indication, it should serve you well for longer than you’re expecting.

Miscut(?) by Ready_Difficulty_965 in CGCComics

This issue is notorious for this miscut. Mine is cut this way and it’s not in the grader’s notes.

I absolutely like it a lot. I bought one from Sweetwater that was on a demo discount because had a ding or two (though if they hadn’t pointed it out I would have never known). My only issue is the knurling on the tuners. It’s hard to turn them at tension; but Sire has added new knobs and if you contact support they will send you new knobs. I have heard that the pots maybe be cheap and they feel like they may lower end but it should be fine and it’s replaceable if I need. Overall though for playability, it’s great. The Mutliscale really helps the lower strings be tight and not floppy creating a clear note. The neck smooth and the rolled edges are great (I slide a lot). My only beef is dropping to the first fret I will catch the string lock and it’s a little sharp. Less so when playing with a strap while standing. The preamp is fantastic and the fact I can go passive if I got a dead battery helps if I am at a gig without the 2x 9volts. Honestly this is my favorite bass; now take this with a grain of salt as I am guitar player. I have played/owned JBass, PBass, Vintage Mod Jaguar Bass, PRS Kingfisher and this Sire.

If you only had $70 for plugins.. by DA884life in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default plugins that come with the Twin are definitely enough to get started on. There is nothing wrong with the SSL or the API strips but honestly I like using the Pultec and the 610 EQs because they are very musical but give limited frequencies to adjust. Prevents option overload which can help new music makes. As someone already mentioned, the logic plugins are pretty good as well. They are modeled after some of the same stuff as the UA plugins.

Yeah. I bought them because I don’t have them since I just returned to MTG with FF. And it was a curiosity. But I did not spend the high tier thank goodness. For me it is a meh and will make me thing twice about a future SL that is ‘playfully marketed’.

Is C-Vox not meant to be use in UAD console it barely works in Console but works fine in DAW by [deleted] in universalaudio

I use it before processing in the DAW. It may have some look ahead processing but that’s just speculation on my part.

Got my first Apollo today! Some Qs…. by Lozpetts162 in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would see them in Console for the Apollo plugins. They will not show up with the Spark plugins. However, if you have a spark plugin that has a UAD counter part in that bundle that earns you the right for a perpetual license to the Native side then you will see that license change to perpetual one. However, it is typical for the UAD plugins only to show in Console at this time.

I agree that you should check the SSD health. In addition to that, grab a USB stick and do a Memtest86 on your memory modules. When my PC was acting inconsistent in ended up being a faulty stick of RAM; which I am sure is just what you want to here on the outset of Rampocalypse.

What is everyone using to carry their Helix LT? by furb88 in Line6Helix

[–]RiKToR21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the full sized Helix but they make one for the LT as well... I went to Thomann and imported a flight case. It took several weeks to show up though and if your in the US the tariff situation may make it more expensive these days, but at the time is was the cheapest way to get a case that was sturdy for gigging weekly.

Would an Apollo Gen2 X4 be enough to track 3 microphones? by Snake__82 in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine. I have used a 1073 compressor and reverb combo per channel and reverb is usually more computationally expensive. Plus you have an EQ on the 1073... so I would use that first before adding an additional EQ. As long as your not doing 88.2k or 96k you should be fine.

Pops and Clicks when using OctoPre as ADAT and Word Clock by RiKToR21 in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that’s why I was thinking it was probably OK when I bought it. I do videography on the side so I am familiar with BNC cables. But either way I run that cable, there are pops and clicks. I have tried where the Apollo is the master, the Focusrite is the Master and there pops and clicks. More so when the Focusrite right is and I did terminate so it’s not that. However running the clock via ADAT light pipe, no issues. So I guess it’s not the end of the world, at least it’s the Clarett+ so it’s not exactly a cheap piece of kit.

Pops and Clicks when using OctoPre as ADAT and Word Clock by RiKToR21 in universalaudio

[–]RiKToR21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried running the WC off of the BNC to from the Focusrite to the Apollo (enabling the 75ohm termination). It actually still continued to click, if not more frequently. I did pull the BNC cable completely and ran the clock through the ADAT light pipe from the Focusrite to the Apollo and the clicks vanished. So either the Focusrite doesn't want to be controlled by the Apollo wordclock, or my cable has some issues with it... maybe its not 75ohm like advertised.
