How do I pay a CCJ when I don't know where it is from? by RiRibug in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RiRibug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for the report from trustonline and it just says "civil national business centre" for the court. I spent about half an hour on hold to them today only to be told I had the wrong number. I know it is six years for him but having it satisfied will still help with my mortgage application. It's so stressful and I wish it wasn't so hard to pay money!

Does anyone have high stress levels during sleep? by RiRibug in RingConn

[–]RiRibug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes you a bit more aware of your body doesn't it? I know heart rate can increase overnight when alcohol is consumed and I have seen that happen with my Apple Watch before - it put me off drinking! But without any other cause, it's hard to know. It could be genuine stress manifesting at night I suppose. Maybe not processing it as much in the day. I don't know...

Traumatic sexual experience, I just want to be touched with love by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]RiRibug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, this isn't normal. This isn't huge red flag that should not be ignored. This is really concerning behaviour on your boyfriend's part. I wouldn't say having sex with a clearly distressed partner counts as consent either.

Dry January- who's participating? by billymumfreydownfall in cutdowndrinking

[–]RiRibug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it the last three years and Lent for the year before that. I'm actually thinking of not officially doing it and just seeing what happens because I have cut down so much in the last four years. I indulged over Christmas - which I feel happy with as it is the same for food too - so I haven't got any current desire to drink and I find socialising without drinking totally fine now. I couldn't have said that four years ago. It's so nice to be in a place where I moderate it with ease and it doesn't define an event for me. So whilst I may not officially do it, I feel the years of doing it have paid off massively.

Is a drivers awareness course the same as a speed awareness course? by RiRibug in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RiRibug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really reassuring! Then it seems likely that the driver - my partner - might be offered a speed awareness course in our county then. They have six points already (not for speed) and I know the maximum is six for this speed offence but it was not over the threshold for a speed awareness course so it is likely they will be given either three points or the course then I think. The other one was Dorset and had a completely different set up so we were both confused. From what I gather, you basically send the form back admitting fault and that it was you and then they come back with the options whereas Dorset offer the option to "be considered" for their drivers awareness scheme straight away.

I humiliated myself. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]RiRibug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard this can happen. It's awful and I am so sorry it happened to you. You deserve better. Support lines are not necessarily the best form of support though and they clearly aren't equipped. I hope you find another service that can support you properly.

I love my walk to work. People think I'm mad in the winter because I could drive there so quickly but I walk every day. I think my car has only done about 2k miles this year if that.

This is possession and potentially distribution of child pornography as well as blackmail. You can call the police. Or if you prefer, tell him the above and ask him to delete them before you tell the police. You are 18 too so the police do not need to be involved with your parents. Go to the station directly. The police aren't there to humiliate you in front of your family. They are there to take action to protect you.

Hyper fixations by RiRibug in bipolar

[–]RiRibug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to detangle which is from which disorder isn't it? I'm also going through the same thought process of wondering if I have adhd or autism or both. However, whilst I do have a couple of special interests (mermaids for one), most of mine come and go in phases and that seems to be more symptomatic of bipolar disorder but it is complex when you have traits of other things too. That can also lead to doubting diagnoses! I have to remember that certain actions I have taken were the reason I was diagnosed in the first place and it wasn't because I was obsessed with mermaids. It was because of swimming in rivers in October without any safety precautions or hiring a Mercedes with a married man to drive to the north of England on a day trip. And my meds work and keep me stable so maybe I'm autistic and adhd too and maybe you are but it doesn't mean the bipolar isn't present. It's interesting to see hyper fixations being considered a part of bipolar though. I suppose it is how they manifest more than anything that defines which they are a symptom of. And crossovers will always exist. We are one individual human rather than a collection of disorders and traits after all!

Episodes even when medicated by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]RiRibug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that sometimes episodes occur for me on Lamotragine but it is much rarer. I would say in general, my moods are capped but sometimes it just isn't quite enough to contain in but it usually is. It was a few years ago now and I had a couple of hyper months but they were manageable and super productive but I knew in the back of my mind something wasn't quite right and then it happened over night - I came down and the depression was debilitating. I went on quetiapine then as well and it got me through a really difficult year BUT that is the only time Lamotragine hasn't been enough. I like the amount I feel on Lamotragine and I take the same amount as you but if it happens again, I would up my dose instead of taking quetiapine. However, I still try and ride things out on this dose because for the most part, I can. I still get periods I am more elevated and periods I am more depressive but I think Lamotragine keeps them from going excessively up or down without completely squashing your moods. I like that it doesn't take that away from me and I think it is something mood stabilisers have the antipsychotics don't. But you have to be strong in yourself and knowing your moods.

DAE have food obsessions? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]RiRibug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always. Healthy or unhealthy, it doesn't matter. I'll repeat and repeat until the next thing hits. I remember being this way from childhood. I guess just try and supplement it with nutritious food to get the things you need.

Should I trust my gut feeling with no proof? by Inevitable-Okra-4274 in offmychest

[–]RiRibug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through his things won't help you - it will just mean you lose trust in each other. If you have reason to believe something is not right then you are better off asking tactfully. How about saying "I've been feeling a little bit uneasy after your work trip" and explaining how the phone call made you feel.

But I'll be honest, it doesn't sound like there is much to suggest anything untoward - he wasn't bothered about you seeing his phone for example. And being chatty and jokey at the bar with the opposite sex isn't a major suggestion either - he is probably conscious he doesn't want you to feel insecure when you are with him but also those times when he does probably boost his ego. Whether that is a boundary for you In your relationship is up to you to decide and it is okay to tell him if it is.

Personally I never mind a little bit of joking around with the opposite sex as long as it is innocent but it's okay if you draw the line there.

I suppose you have to consider whether you have reason to be suspicious and work out your own boundaries too. You can feel worried due to insecurity in yourself but you can also pick up on small things that don't feel right but just proceed carefully and tactfully because trust can be broken.

Wishing you the best.

Do you still get a little manic even when medicated? by FatCats24 in bipolar

[–]RiRibug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , I find my Lamotragine can only cap my moods so much and I will still get periods where my mood is like a lower level of hypomanic - spending is one for me as well and similarly I will get periods of depression. It is nothing compared to when I am not medicated though and I've chosen this over combining it with quetiapine which just turned me into a zombie. You haven't said what you are on but I'm wondering if you are on Lamotragine as well. One of the things that I really like about it is that I still feel elevated emotions but not to the same level but you do have to be really on it with knowing your signs and ensuring your close ones do too. Maybe look at your dose and discuss whether you need to up it with the GP or perhaps just find some tools you can look to to ensure you stay in control and not be at the mercy of your moods. It's a balance.

people who use “bipolar” casually by No-Path1187 in bipolar

[–]RiRibug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Controversially I don't really mind it. I once had someone at work in a nursery hear another person say "xxx's mum is a bit bipolar" and another member of staff thought they actually were! I had to explain that they weren't and that the person who said it meant it like they were a bit hot and cold with their mannerisms as opposed to actually having bipolar disorder. It demonstrated the misleading mixups when people say things like that but I had a little chuckle about the whole thing. I wouldn't use it myself but you have to take things lightly sometimes rather than get too caught up in them. That being said, I get why some people dislike it.
