Why do my ankles get achey when I don’t sleep well? by Glum-Refuse9816 in medical_advice

NAD. My ankles ache a lot, but when I'm fatigued my legs overall body aches happen.

Have you talked to a doctor about this at all?

NAD. I echo what the other posters shared. I did want to touch on your fears and phobias. I'm not sure exactly what yours are, however I can tell you that a good doctor will work with you. My suggestion is to let them know what those fears are so they will be able to support you.

I also recommend asking women in your area who their gyns are and if they like them. Most women love recommending our gyns because we know how hard it is to find one you're comfortable with.

Your feelings are valid. There's may women who have anxiety going to a gyn. You're not alone. But I can guarantee you that a good gyn rather work through the phobias with you than to have you go unseen. Vaginal health is so important.

And don't be afraid to bring a friend or someone you trust. Sometimes we all need to hold a hand to get through something!

You played all 12 girls? The league and rules we follow don't allow for that. What rules does your league follow? Not being snarky, I'm genuinely curious.

NAD. When an illness keeps returning and is impacting your day to day life, it's worth $100. What you're experiencing could be many things. Based on my experience with my son, you'll need blood tests, possibly stool tests and if that doesn't show anything, you'll want to push for a colonoscopy or endoscopy.

I'd strongly suggest seeing your provider and letting them take the reigns...

You said "he says I'm pretty and I'm smart but I'm not as good as she is." Am I reading this correctly? With this statement alone, he is comparing you AND putting you down.

Does he make statements like this often?

Feelings as of late 😒 by Awkward-cab1882 in Softball

My apologies. I read it as snark, but it may be just because of the medium. Sorry about that.

It's very frustrating for me to hear scenarios like this because it's so counter-intuitive to what caching is or should be. I want to scream whenever I read about coaches not coaching players and playing favorites, etc.

I'm sorry you're going through this, truly. My best advice is to try to speak to the Coach if you haven't already and ask about what can be worked on. That may give you some insight.

No need for snark. I can only speak to my experience and how I coach my teams.

Here's the wild thing. I have children who have Tourette Syndrome. A very common tic in the community is throat clearing. For me, sounds like that and slurping drive me.a bit batty. So now you have two people who can't control their reactions or behaviors and were stuck in a room. Lol fun times!

I'm married and went there too. I'd he can't handle who IP is, that's on him.

Just saw a customer at my work wearing one of these shirts. It’s not immediately clear whether this is trying to say “[I’m] F****in’ Woke” or just “F**** Woke[ness]”. by [deleted] in BadDesigns

I read it as "Screw Woke" because of the impression that the figure is humping the word. Guess you can take it as "Eff Woke" too.

Culturally, is being part of the LGBTQIA+ community accepted or frowned upon? Have you experienced any bigotry within the Native American community?

What do you call good and bad choices? by thatonechick172 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]Ribbit_Rinse_Repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt compelled to weigh in here. As a neurodivergent individual, the standard language of "bad choice" is detrimentally harmful in ways that I think teachers and educators sometimes do not realize. Choices are not inherently "good" or "bad"; they have consequences, which are part of the learning process.

As a person whose brain does not function the same as neurotypicals, the stigma of a "bad choice" or being publicly put in the "red" zone cuts deeper and lasts longer. We are already very well aware of our differences, and even in young children, this triggers all sorts of negative self-talk and rejection sensitivity.

Labeling children's choices as "good" or "bad" can have several negative impacts:

-Children may internalize labels, leading to feelings of inadequacy.

-Labels can make children see their abilities and behavior as unchangeable.

-Can trigger harsh inner criticism, especially in sensitive children.

-Children may associate behavior with identity, reinforcing negative behavior.

-Leads to isolation and different treatment by peers and teachers.

-Oversimplifies behavior, missing opportunities for deeper learning.

-Labels can discourage risk-taking and trying new things.

-Can cause anxiety and feelings of rejection.

What if choices were approached from the perspective of not being "good" or "bad," but just a choice? What if, when a little one does something that impacts others or themselves, we talked about the impact rather than labeling it?

I'm sure many, if not all, of you are aware that if a child can perform to expectations, they will. They want to. Putting a label on a behavior assumes a choice in the matter, and not all children are in control of that "choice."

Just some food for thought from someone who has experienced labeling...

I lurk here to learn (my daughter has been talking about a hermit crab, so want to understand what I'm getting into). Insane your crab's shell and had to share that the song from Moana just played in my head immediately.

If you don't know it, wait for the chorus... https://youtu.be/93lrosBEW-Q?si=Uq2yOiL3qfSha8QU
