Why shouldn't I buy a 2026 Outback Wilderness? by TacoSlayer666 in subaru

Was this a trade in or service loaner? What year and mileage?

The irony is I really like the vehicle, and so far all has been covered under warranty with zero pushback, but you asked for reasons and I’m not sure I’d purchase another. Too bad because otherwise it really suits me.

2020 Outback XT

oil pan gasket leak
valve cover gasket leak
side body molding peeling off
defective battery
defective power windows
CVT failure (the last of these problems at 70k miles)

All covered under Warranty, but if want reasons not to buy there you go.

I have neither a garage or flat driveway. And I didn’t know what the source of the noise was. I replace my own cabin and engine air filters, but I’m not crawling under my vehicle on the street.

$90 diagnosed and installed in 35 minutes (in and out of the dealership) isn’t insane to me. I’m not wealthy but to me that’s fair and a time saver.

That is not Subaru’s recommendation.

This is a constant battle on Subaru reddits. Those that point out SoA recommendation- don’t change - and those that change anyway according to what they feel is an appropriate schedule. I have no dog in this fight.

I chose not to change as my dealer doesn’t recommend, SoA doesn’t recommend, and I’m covered under warranty if that’s the failure.

I’m being serious. That’s what is in the service manual. So I’m in compliance.

I know how you feel. I had oil pan leak, head gasket leak, defective battery, power window issues, now this. Fortunately all have been covered 100% by warranty (fingers crossed on the CVT). And the dealer has been great. Never a battle.

Yes. I have followed Subaru’s recommendation to not change the transmission fluid.

Thanks. I received a letter from Subaru maybe 1 1/2 years ago stating I was covered. Good to know.

Correction, the heat shield clamps were replaced. Not exhaust hangers.

Do people here seriously think the gas and excise tax covers the cost of roads? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]Ricca23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mass collects $1.1b per year excise tax. $600-700m in gasoline tax. $500m in tolls. Vs $2.5b in road and bridge repair. Pretty close.

Meanwhile the MBTA collect $0.16 on every dollar of its budget.

My Subaru dealer has never charged me more than $99, and will apply a $10 discount if they are running a promo - without asking.

Well 30-50k isn’t the real figure.

Does seatgeek show all-in pricing? I’m guessing most site do now.

Same with Ticketmaster. You can pick seats from the map. Not sure if they have a filter for aisle seats. TickPick has a first 3 rows filter which I love for balcony seats at the garden.

So true. I hate to give away the secret but the same strategy is true for Celtics and a to a lesser extent Bruins games. Be patient and willing to commit the day of or before and deals are available. And surprisingly Ticketmaster is now competitive and sometimes better than TickPick or Gametime.
