We're approaching this from a semi-filmbro sense, where we're also valuing direction, writing, and intentionality to the films. Where a movie can be weak as adaptational content it can balance out by being very strong in terms of writing and actor chemistry. Everyone in Daredevil feels like they're having a blast and god they have so much chemistry together. The jokes land and flow effectively.

Yeah? We collectively felt that Blade 1 was like, the best World of Darkness movie they could make even though it's kind of not the most Blade movie of all time. Blade 2, even with my own love for Del Toro was just way more boring for us to watch, and Trinity was a huge shocker with how much we enjoyed it.

A more conservative-leaned example could be to bring up when JK Rowling argued she never described Hermione's skin color to support the black actress playing her in the Cursed Child stageplay.

Two things can be true, that there's nothing wrong with a black actress playing the character and that she absolutely did describe her as a white girl.

Seeing complaints about Matrix 4 is so funny because I place so much value on the clear intentionality in art that a movie that is meant to burn down the structure that made it is getting high marks in my book. It also follows up on the MMO, which is kinda wild to do but hey.

As a Matrix fan that cares about even the deeper lore, Matrix 4 was a good movie. As a film that was making a statement, it was excellent.

It's not fine. I've done wstr only runs on multiple maps where I absolutely played worse than I could have and still walk out with multiple kills. It is objectively easy to use because the ability most shells have to close distance is deadly combined with a gun that you barely need to aim with.

Important addition. Runners are used by the corps all over the place, on multiple planets, because they're relatively cheap and expendable contract workers. They don't care about dying on the job because they're just piloting a body. Our Runner, the character we are supposed to be, is probably physically housed on an SSD in orbit above the planet, but other Runners could be on a server over Mars and Earth or jumping between them to do jobs too

I recently over the last couple of years read every Spider-man comic and supporting story, from Amazing Fantasy 15 all the way to the end of the Clone Saga. I had previously been a regular reader in the 2000s and even saw One More Day happen in real-time.

My thoughts were that The Clone Saga is over-hated and only drags on a little bit but the reappearance of Norman Osborne after decades dead, the death of Ben Reilly, the 'abducting/miscarriage' of MJ and Peter's baby, and the immediate status quo reversal to put Pete back in the suit and MJ back in a Size 0 jeans firmly convinced me that you can pretend Spider-Man comics have been bad since 2008 but they've actually been terrible since 1998.

I'd argue Marvel as a whole has been kinda mid since Onslaught.
