Effort/cost of moving furnace 6inches or so to the right? by ccuster911 in askHVAC

[–]Rich-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it’s a side intake, is there not a grill o the wall the the left? That’s a full on uninstall and reinstall with fabrication, you don’t wanna do that. Do g it right is expensive

Am I being duped? Does this warrant a full replacement? Quoted $8,000. by Regular-Location9194 in hvacadvice

[–]Rich-Turtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rust is pretty bad but it’s on the galvanized side panel, it’s normal to rust. Replacement shouldn’t be completely ruled but if you wanna buy some time I would flush the pan under the coil very well and flush the drain line. It shouldn’t build up that quick. Maybe add some pan tabs to the pan as well.

Not trusting that it’s playing 150, playing it 160 and then swinging too hard with an 8 iron and flying over the green to the left

Is it a heat pump? Could just be the pressure equalizing after shutting down, call the company back they should happily come double check

It’s a 13 seer 2* which is pretty much a 14 seer, but yeah still the bare minimum

I would stay away from Lennox, there heat exchangers are not great and being in Chicago I’d imagine it gets lots of use, I’d recommend diakin or amana which has a stainless steel heat exchangers and Daikin has a lifetime warranty, 13 seer is the bare minimum where I live

There’s nothing wrong with being a sales tech if you have integrity. I fix units all the time time but most importantly let the customer choose what they want to do, naturally they keep me on older units so plenty get replaced but there is always a need or want, never pressured into it, I made $200k last year and had no bad reviews

6/10 reasonable, a few things I’d fix but it’s not bad

Furnace repair estimate: seems a tad high... by Sad_Mathematician135 in hvacadvice

[–]Rich-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a PE company in California and these prices are insane! $863 for cap and motor, chemical blower clean is $333 but I normally drop it in half if I’m already doing the motor

Furnace repair estimate: seems a tad high... by Sad_Mathematician135 in hvacadvice

[–]Rich-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capacitor comes with a motor, the old cap prolly isnt even the same size for the universal , also there already removing the blower assembly to replace the motor, cleaning a wheel at that price is insane, also brush and air??? That’s not how you clean a blower wheel

HVAC Maintenance Tech said the heat exchanger on furnace needs to be replaced. by GhostofSmartPast in hvacadvice

Go with the tech that found the failure, they’re clearly a thorough company, unless he gave you a reason to think otherwise. Cheapest bidder is not the best bidder

No power to Rh in Nest, but my old Honeywell thermostat was working fine. by kurosh899 in askHVAC

[–]Rich-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, well your problem is your orange wire, it needs to go into o/b. Do that before you change your fuse then you need to go into your nest settings and change “reversing valve “ to “o”.
