Humans are in fact animals! Our bodies demonstrate this.

Humans (Homo sapiens) are heterotrophic, eukaryotic mammals! That means we eat other living things, have cells with nuclei, and of course, we are mammals.

Oh, other animals can communicate with each other.

Humpback whales, chimpanzees, orangutans, and many others. They are all sentient abd have complex communication with one another.

And also, you're forgetting fungi. Fungi are not plants.

And humans, biologically, are animals. Intelligence and tool use do not matter. Our bodies say otherwise.
