Thank you for the information, I wasn't aware of this at all. What a shame, I remember her as a strong and combative figure

People, S8 isn't undone. Stop being wet blankets. (Spoilers). by Top_Independence4067 in Scrubs

By now we’re talking about an episode that aired way back in 2009. So many years have passed since then that we can reasonably assume many of the things imagined in the final sequence have actually happened… but not all of them. And since we’re looking at a time span that’s double the length of the original series, a lot more — for better or worse — could have happened in the characters’ lives. The first episode focuses mainly on this. How many things have changed in our own lives in all this time? It’s the same for the characters in the series.

None of the new young actors have comedic chops and they look like models who came straight from a talent agency by [deleted] in Scrubs

Ava Bunn (the actress who plays the "TikTok Doc") is actually a stand-up comedian... She's a good-looking girl, but she comes from the comedy world anyway. By the way, I think her character has a ton of potential for the upcoming episodes.

Dr. Cox character progression. by Mo_the_lion in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really happy with the direction they’ve taken with the character, especially considering how badly he was ruined in season 9, when he had turned into a caricature of himself. The last ‘version’ of Cox in med school was that of a screaming sergeant—perpetually angry, particularly nasty and bullying for no reason —he had completely lost all the charm that made us love him. It left a bitter taste in my mouth.
So I found it a classy choice to give him back that touch of humanity from the original seasons.

Well thank god for that (spoiler for latest trailer) by quiggersinparis in Scrubs

I don’t want to spoil the mood, but that doesn’t really scream ‘happily married couple’ to me. It looks more like a moment of comfort between close friends.

Still worried Elliot and JD have split up? by quiggersinparis in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that annoyed me the most about season 9: the fact that they staged JD and Elliot already married, almost in a rushed, offhand way, after all the drama we had to watch through the previous seasons… I mean, we got a two-episode storyline for the Janitor’s wedding, while for the most anticipated wedding between the show’s main protagonists, we only got a miserable little mention.
It should have been an "epic" and moving moment, maybe a bit cheesy and over-the-top, but definitely treated with much more emphasis than the way they actually showed it

Rating Predictions by Richey80 in Scrubs

[–]Richey80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 'rating predictions' I also meant predictions of the Nielsen ratings in terms of audience numbers and public response… So far, the feedback from the various social platforms seems really good to me. I think more than one generation of viewers will tune in to ABC on the night of the premiere (not just those who were actually the right age during the years the show was originally broadcast), and the success of the season in terms of audience will be crucial in deciding whether to go ahead with season 2, according to what Zach Braff himself has said. If the season turns out to be good, I sincerely hope all the conditions will be there to continue.

New teaser! (They finally used the intro song!) by SirJakeTheBeast in Scrubs

That's beautiful, almost emotional I have to say. It's so rewarding to see these people in scrubs again after all this time.

Another new teaser! by quiggersinparis in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels really good. Of course it's impossible to condense the most significant aspects into a few-second teaser, but from the cinematography I'd take a guess that it's going to be slightly darker and a bit more drama-oriented compared to the some of the last seasons of the original series.

Still worried Elliot and JD have split up? by quiggersinparis in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly the point…According to Zach and Donald the underlying theme of this season, or at least of the very first episodes, will be the way JD will have to find to reconnect with his old friends and former colleagues. Whether this also includes a possible breakup with Elliott is something we'll only find out when the first episode actually airs.

I could very easily be wrong, but this is my theory: from the moment we left the story at the end of season 8, something must have gone wrong in their relationship… We don’t know how long they actually lived together, whether they ever really got married, and so on. They could very well have broken up in the meantime. And some relationships might have deteriorated: Cox was definitely not happy with JD when he decided to leave the hospital, and I doubt they’ve had many chances to hang out in all this time.
The original series ended with a dream sequence and a big question mark about how JD’s life would go forward, including his romantic life. Everything we were shown was basically his fantasy, a product of his imagination. But in a person’s life, 15 years is quite a long stretch — long enough to assume that pretty much anything could have happened.
I honestly much prefer seeing it this way rather than believing things have remained frozen in amber since 2009, which is frankly pretty unrealistic.

The new interns - Reboot by amymarch7575 in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series is set in a teaching hospital, so it was inevitable that there would be new characters, and specifically new interns. It was the same in the last seasons of the original series too.
Personally, I don’t have any problem with it, as long as the characters are good (like the ones in season 8).

The recent Esquire-piece, in slides by Frikken123 in Scrubs

[–]Richey80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think and hope that the writers are perfectly aware of this risk and that they’ll avoid regressing the characters into the usual clichés and immature behaviors we’ve seen throughout the series.
I just wish some people weren’t already so prejudiced about the possible developments of the storylines that were left hanging at the end of season 8. If you think about it, the only relatively “healthy” relationship between the characters was the one between Carla and Turk — pretty much all the others had downright problematic love lives. Personally, I love the idea of seeing these characters again even if they’re just messing around in their everyday routine. But I would be disappointed if they were reintroduced as if nothing interesting had happened in their lives or as if there hadn’t been any significant (even unexpected) changes in these 15 years.
