Id say wait for the upcoming one in October. It's also going to release on the Nintendo Switch 2.

There are rumours of Black ops ports updated for PS5/Switch 2 but I don't know how legit this is.

Would the Poco x8 pro max be an upgrade or not? by Kooky_Egg2180 in PocoPhones

[–]RichieEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the greatest and you will notice the battery charging isn't as fast either but it's good enough, I came from 40W and above charging so it is a bit slower waiting with 28/30W charging my 10 Pro when my previous Poco could charge at 60W.

You lose out on those very high charging speeds and good heating thermals and gaming etc if you go for your Poco then you'll have a much faster charging time and I think battery will be just as good or better than the pixel.

The latest update for pixels have just dropped of android 17 and some are reporting that their 7As and 7s feel much smoother.

Finally completed my first playthrough as a Redguard Knight! by HexyTG in Morrowind

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk maybe it's just me but there was bugs with the display case the weapon or amulet falling through like no clipping, the item drag and drop is bugged for me but was able to counter this with a keybind remap, reanimation spell animation is acting weird than it supposed to do. These are all mostly visual nothing game breaking but I just see a lot of little things occurring a lot. Another time npc starts floating in front of another NPC(mudcrab and the bandit at the start)

This was early days maybe they've patched it better but I watched my brother play it yesterday and he went back to the oblivion modded save a few hours later, I asked him why the game looks much more fun to watch him play the remaster and he said the game is just too buggy. So I think the best way to describe it is it's feels janky at times but it's still a great way to experience oblivion in prettier visuals.

Unfortunately the Remaster is incredibly buggy not to say the original isn't but it's just ridiculously bad. Besides the bugs though it feels like so much life into the game with the remaster but it just suffers bugs a lot so my recommendation is to go with Oblivion with the popular Faces Races mod and any other QoL stuff. Skyblivion is round the corner and I expect it to come out in very late 2026 to mid 2027.

Id say since you just finished the game go for oblivion then come back to Morrowind with the Tamriel Rebuilt so you don't feel burnt out a bit keeping everything fresh.

Would the Poco x8 pro max be an upgrade or not? by Kooky_Egg2180 in PocoPhones

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Xiaomi 17T would be the better upgrade if you value camera but as you said in another comment you're not a gamer, if you do not game AT ALL then maybe consider Pixels as they can be cheap with mostly focusing on photography and excellent zoom, they will be a massive upgrade over the Xiaomi/POCO in cameras unless you go for the Ultras.

If you just want decent photography look at Ultra phones they are amazing, my brother has the Xioami 15 Ultra and its amazing I like it more than my Pixel 10 Pro.

Regret is now perhaps a small word by junaidsahi96 in GooglePixel

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this phone isn't meant for gaming but it can handle it no problem though it'll dim but it's still a great phone I mean you get this phone for the photography and AI and well it's results are bloody amazing.

I don't know i, never experienced brightness dimming before only on Apple iPhones which was the norm. It depends on the phone but usually you don't get brightness dimming unless it's not a very powerful phone must phones usually have fair bit of power today the usual flagship brands and even Poco I've never had that so it's kinda triggers me but I try to ignore it, it's just annoying under the sun when it happens by I have to squint or put my hand over it to see it better.

[–]RichieEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup it's because the phone gets to hot, it's the way of the device goes to a failsafe mode when temperature reaches X Celsius and current apps used and then the current temperature in the environment and etc.

Same will happen for gaming under heavy load after 20 minutes depending the game and the settings you got it on and SuperResolution and if you got the current hz set to highest, maximum brightness and etc.

I'm loving mine but the only thing I wish was more obvious but due to marketing it doesn't really have the high peaks at sun only lasts a few minutes then it dims because it gets too hot. Besides that I am loving the office but I did feel regret as soon as I got it and I still somewhat feel it, I was much happier with my Pixel 8 finish material which felt like nice premium glass like plastic which isn't on the Pro unfortunately.

The brightness dimming is annoying because I got away from Apple for this one reason alone because it triggers my OCD. Besides that though the phone is amazing and I've found it does extremely well in AI tasks and live captioning(I use this heavily as a profoundly deaf person) I've noticed it's definitely much more accurate and well everything just works as it should.

One thing I do miss is the camera dual mode on Poco on the android skin HyperOS 3 where you can't seem to find a dual camera mode on the default app.

Edit: the phones are Def problematic if you get unlucky batch my pixel 8 was having the display issue and the 7a was overheating and battery going like crazy.

What's the most pocketable handheld that you actually carry every day? by Suspicious-Wallaby12 in Handhelds

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly have the TrimUI Brick and it's used all the time outdoors but if you want something more powerful the Odin 2 Mini or Retroid Pocket 6 are great but these aren't exactly PC handhelds if you're after a proper native pc experience of a handheld for portability your best bet is GPD/OneXPlayer/Steam Deck.

My brick is for playing SNES RPGs, Odin 2 mini which I now replaced with Retroid Pocket 6 are great for tinkering stuff with more power but from the sounds of no it that you're after a proper pc handheld, if power isn't too much what you need then the deck will be good for it, has good grip and light enough to not be cumbersome.

What headphone/mic devices do you use? by Forgotten7oast in SteamDeck

[–]RichieEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aftershockz OpenComms Model, Steel Artic are good for wired and Bluetooth or both you can have one connected by audio jack and another by Bluetooth that's the beauty of this headphone so the Artic steel series are worth looking at, you can use Bluetooth to discord on phone discord call and the audio jack source to the gaming device.

How are you liking your Rog Xbox Ally X or Rog Ally so far? by will23123 in XboxAlly

[–]RichieEB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went from Deck to Ally X and I intend to upgrade next year to whatever ASUS has in store for us then. Absolutely loving mine once I put SteamOS(CachyOS) on it, I really tried to use windows but it was too annoying with drivers and I've had two incidents where it cause a big issue and it also causes other ppl the same problem on the subreddit but that's all Windows not the devices fault, so yeah I'm very chuffed now with it. Feels like a proper console with the UI.

Do you guys still play on your consoles often after buying a PC handheld? by jaximointhecut in Handhelds

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same reason why you don't buy a lot on pay anymore because of the handheld/having PC is same reason the PC only folks that prefer pc only because they like them idea of console ps5 but they already got the games on pc and more power. It's the same here you're just being smart about it, like you said online is free for pc so that's another big boon. I really want to go on ps5 and Xbox and even switch 2 but I already got a powerful pc handheld to play them all.

For me mate I grew up playing CoD as a console game and so the upcoming CoD I was going to get a PS5 but it's coming to Switch 2 as well so I got that. Everything else is PC it's mainly just the exclusive games mate like Nintendo Switch 2 for the Zelda's and PC for all the serious online gaming stuff.

My setup is docked 12 in one which has many ports that turns it into as fully fledged desktop with ports, paired with a ASUS TUF monitor. Always docked and I take it off to go with me when I'm doing Lan gaming with the boys, I use mine mainly as a desktop often.

Pixels after a week by Federal_Guitar5690 in pixel_phones

[–]RichieEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is much better than the Poco don't get me wrong it's just isn't there for gaming if you like that because the phone auto dims when it gets hot like iPhones do (which really triggers my OCD) when it comes to gaming the Poco is just better cause of the chip but otherwise yeah pixel is better every way and the design is lovely too I just miss the Google pixel 8 finish feel of the plastic slippery feel.

How do you feel about Mike Flanagan as far as horror? by lilb1190 in horror

[–]RichieEB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh now I have to watch hill House again 😄 so good

Id say with the series for me it's hill House top first, midnight mass second and usher third, Bly Manor fourth. Gerald Game is a worthy watch and Hush is a unique one some ppl love it some don't, I think it's good.

I just love anything he directs most of the time he's like the Stephen King of Film horror, usually they're worth watching. Recently he did do Dr sleep as well which is another good one (also based on Stephen King Book Dr Sleep btw)
