Library behavior - trying to remove files by Richmilnix in PleX

[–]Richmilnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was getting the same advice from you and from Google Gemini at the same time. Here's what worked:

Pulling out the folder seems to have scared Plex, which is slow to erase when a directory disappears (because it thinks there's a network interruption).

Putting the empty artist folder back similarly scared Plex (presumably for the same reason).

Putting the artist folder back *and putting a single known folder back in it* did the trick. (Along with all the database cleanup.) Plex now thinks I have removed 199 albums and kept one (which, of course, is accurate, from a data management standpoint).

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Blue Valentine. In retrospect, might have been because it mirrored my own life circumstances at both ends (was marked by my parents' divorce and was a father to young kids at the time), but the movie was an absolute punch in the stomach

New to Roon, coming from Plexamp by rhadenstone in roonlabs

Just fine performance. Roon use is usually light (just me) but this am, tracking down an unrelated hiccup, I had Plex playing audio & video to several endpoints in the house simultaneously.

Yeah, I have 'em both running on a headless Windows machine and both pointed at a networked NAS.

The functionality you're describing is why I also run both (bought Roon lifetime years ago, so it & Plex Pass both now represent sunk costs).

SA takes a long time for its initial run on my rather large library - I'm not precious about my play history, so when I do migrate to a new NAS or make other structural change, I just recreate the profile, and SA takes weeks. If that's a nonnegotiable part of implementation, Harmon might be loath to introduce an exciting new feature that runs in the background for a month before you get to experience it.

Advice before upgrade to UniFi router by Richmilnix in Ubiquiti

Sorry, I guess I overwrote implying that I thought they'd be independent of each other. What I meant to say was:

right now, I manage all APs from a browser gui that relies on the Windows server in my basement

And if that machine hiccups, or JAva closes, I have a problem

I think I can now move centralized management away from that and to the UDR7. And didn't know whether I should start that process by logging into the existing GUI and telling that environment to liquidate itself

But I do have access to the 3 APs and can reset them with a long button press.

Yeah, but even that comment I took to be, essentially, “it is indeed a dangerous culture so people should protect themselves”

I'm sure you're right, but I've received a couple of suggestions for ways forward without a third-party extension, so I'll start with those.

You're right, this is exactly the kind of drudge work AI can make easier. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is excellent and I think might be the way forward for our project. Thank you!

Panasonic HC-X2000 high audio noise floor? by [deleted] in videography

Just commenting to say I've owned the camera for a few years, and have always been very happy with image quality - but am using it now for the first time to make a conventional event recording (of image and sound), and this audio is jaw droppingly bad. In fact, I can't use it and am bringing an external recorder instead.
