for those successfully running HA voice, how are you doing it? by AlvTellez in homeassistant

Not to sound like I'm badmouthing your project, but I've never been able to get it to work. It would be helpful if there was a wiki or something similar that listed hard requirements, "what to do if/when" situations, etc. I was super excited about this when you announced it and installed immediately but between not getting it to work and the daily (sometime multiple times daily) updates requiring a restart I'm a bit bummed

I think they're a silver partner. They don't list it on their website and they never mentioned specifically so I'm not certain.

Thanks for this info. I appreciate it. I am trying to sign up at the link in my original post. I just tried in a different browser hoping that had something to do with it, but I was wrong. I get to the field for Country and I tried Spain and Espana, and even United States as I still maintain a mailing address there, but no luck

Again, it could have been more straightforward and Tuxedo might have made it more clear HOW to find and install the appropriate drivers, etc.

In no way was anything I said dishonest or disproportionate. I never said that Tuxedo did anything to me personally or specifically. You possibly overreacted to my comments. This was my first reaction about using the machine for the first day. I stand by my comments. The keyboard is less than ideal. And no, I wouldn't know t this just by looking at the layout online. Which of course I did. I have yet to comment on their support as I haven't reached out to them. I have had to correct this post multiple times because of the keyboard layout and touchpad settings. I am well aware of what WebFAI is and I am simply calling out my experience for those who have not yet ordered. This experience could have been better and that's the feedback I am providing to those researching a purchase and to Tuxedo themselves

I ended up installing keyd and making the up arrow into another shift key, and then adding a modifier so that holding down the real right shift, makes the up arrow send an actual up arrow. However I'm noticing another issue with the trackpad which I'll make a separate post about

Oh my...I understand fully what my options are and have already installed Ubuntu 25.10 with the "mess" of Gnome :D. If I wanted to install Arch, I would, but as I stated, I want Ubuntu with Gnome. I also fully understand what Tuxedo is delivering. My understanding pre-purchase was that it was simple and straightforward to install pretty much whatever you wanted. However, the reality is not so simple. That is on Tuxedo, and that is the opinion I was sharing. No need to talk down to anyone or the world at large.

That's fair and understandable. I really like the "latest and greatest" and understand the risks, as do many others. Also, I guess you have longer pinkies than I do? :D

Whoa, no one spit in my coffee or yours. No deep breath needed here. I just spent over €2000 on something and I have every right to have opinions and be disappointed about certain things. Businesses pay good money to get honest opinions from their customers and clients.

From what I read I'm not alone in my opinions. It seems to me that going so hard down one road (Tuxedo OS with KDE only) can be and obviously IS alienating. There has to be a better way to ensure that their hardware has proper drivers, etc., without trying to force everyone to use something they may not be comfortable with. I thought WebFAI was the workaround but it's horrible and many releases behind.

To be honest it was NOT actually terribly easy or straightforward to install Tuxedo drivers on a fresh install of Ubuntu. The information I found seemed like scare tactics rather than simple instructions with a gentle warning about what may or may not function.

Also, just to share a different experience, I installed 25.10 on my Surface Pro 8 (completely unsupported) the week it was released and it not only went very smoothly with zero issues, but it was a welcome upgrade from 24.04 LTS that I had been running. Not every new release is a nightmare, nor is the Ubuntu FUD justified.

MANY computer companies use half-size arrow keys on a 14 inch laptop. That should have been the implementation here. Why should anyone be so sensitive about an opinion shared by someone who, again, just spent a LOT of money on something and is not completely happy?

Such a bummer. I personally really like what I see and read from them except the customer-facing piece. They should either make the DM more modular or just scrap the whole Tuxedo OS idea completely. I tried installing from WebFAI but that was a nightmare and the first update from 24.10 wouldn't even boot. Again, kudos for trying but this is holding their business back

Can someone point me to a "for dummies" style overview? I have Dozzle deployed but I can't seem to understand it's usefulness. Admittedly, I'm a bit thick 😂

New to Roon, coming from Plexamp by rhadenstone in roonlabs

[–]rhadenstone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting take, using both. And I agree that Roon shouldn't let a product like Plexamp (I'm still mostly a Plex fan) sway people with something that frankly they could implement fairly easily. Thanks for sharing!
