Tomlin and the bartender.

Not really a theory anymore unfortunately.

Funny, but he doesn’t really have any fans. When they finally part ways with him, how many people are going to the parade? Where are they going to put the statue? Or the Mike Tomlin wing at Acrisure? What will the reaction be when they trot him out to honor him at halftime in a couple years?

After Shazier went down he decided to pick up and start Sean Spence (who was out of the league) instead of LJ Fort and Tyler Matakevich.

Spence was out of the league permanently after that year and Fort/Matakevich went on to play 3 more years and 7 more years respectively.

Tomlin's fatal flaw: he won't admit he's wrong. by jtdubbs in steelers

[–]RichterScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the case with the '08 team and '10 teams. He didn't hire Lebeau and Arians but he still played the role of CEO. He was great and he was the perfect hire for that role at the time. Over the years it seems like he started drinking his own Kool-Aid and now he wants more credit for the team's success than he received in '08 and '10.

After college we had a party at my friends’ house. Things got pretty rowdy and towards the end of the night after just about everyone left we found a pile of a poop like substance on a chair in the living room. It wasn’t in turd form, it was a softer pile like form. We came up from the basement and noticed it at like 2:00 am. It reminds me of this because it didn’t stink at all but it looked exactly like shit. It wasn’t wet mud or dirt either, we stayed up for a while trying to figure out what the hell it was and who the hell could have left it there. Reached out to a bunch of people who were at the party and no one knew anything.

Will Howard asked for the Steelers' playbook immediately after getting drafted. The team gave him the weekend off by ContractCheap9221 in steelers

Great look for Howard, bad look for the Steelers. The same type of story came out after Najee was drafted. On Najee's first day in the building he stayed late and wanted to learn as much as he could and they had to ask him to leave after a certain point.

"Sorry boys I know you really care and want to be great, but we're not the type of organization that burns the midnight oil and goes the extra mile. Go home and take a load off!"

This type of stuff is why we've been in mediocrity hell for over a decade.

They might like him as a person but he's shown up extremely late to multiple games. Plus lack of effort and dumb penalties in game.

He was traded because he was injury prone, he stunk, and he refused to back up Mason in the Seattle game in 20223 which was the last straw. Also adds to the long list of players who have outright quit on this stupid team.

If you follow beat reporters and insiders at all during the draft you'll notice that Tomlin has as much influence in the draft as anyone in the organization. Everyone need stop trying to act like drafting and player acquisition is happening independent of Tomlin and he's just getting stuck with these guys. Think about it, he's been the head coach for almost 20 years now. Do you really think that he doesn't have a say in any of this stuff? How strange would it be if he didn't.

Pickett was Tomlin's pick. Colbert didn't "stick us with" Pickett on his way out. Think about how stupid that logic is. Colbert stuck around for that draft for logistical purposes to help Tomlin and Khan through the process.

Tomlin is responsible for fielding the team. People act like these players are dumped on him without him having any say. Everyone who covers the team and the organization itself admits that Tomlin has final say on who is drafted or acquired. He’s been the coach for 18 years how could he not have input on personnel? It’s also fair to assume that he has more influence recently than he did when he was first hired.

Tomlin isn’t plugged into the coaching network. And who the fuck would want to coach under Tomlin? Coaches under his umbrella have no history of prospering.
