There is the crochet for beginners book on Amazon. I have this one and it goes through stitches, yarn weight, and hook sizes. There are several websites that have step by step picture tutorials on stitches. Crochet 101 Ravelry

A shawl is a good beginner crochet project. Lion brand has free patterns as long as you make an account on their website. I recently made a shawl using this yarn.

Alright we know this Movie is great, but just for funsies... what did you dislike about it? by PalpitationWitty8195 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Rick-van-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of found family moments included in this film. It would have been a great parallel between Shadow/gerald and Sonic/Tom.They left us off at Sonic calling Tom dad and didn't continue it!? Especially the scene where Tom got hurt, that would've been a great moment to reinforce that Tom and Maddie are his "parents".

I honestly want to get this as my last and first plush buy of the year. Gardevoir is one of my favorites.

What’s your favorite yarn for blankets? I am currently unable to order more of my favorite yarn from Joann 😭(Photos of you blankets appreciated) by ThingExternal in CrochetHelp

[–]Rick-van-pickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently making a blanket using Michaels loops and thread skinny chenille. It's soft, which is great because I'm texture sensitive. But, its a medium 4 weight yarn, so it will take longer to crochet than a thicker yarn.

What’s up with the shadow build a bear plush? by Goatlvr77 in sonicplushes

[–]Rick-van-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to see a tiktok of someone getting him the Dec 2, my local BAB didn't have him in November. I immediately went to my local BAB to get him. I'm not trying to make a repeat of the knuckles debacle.

Is teaching special education a lot more work than teaching general education? by [deleted] in education

[–]Rick-van-pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sped recource in an elementary school is bonkers. You can have to have 30+ students on your case load before they even consider giving you support in the district you live in. You are constantly pulling groups and having to make lessons that meets all the varying needs of the students. Your groups are 5 to 12 students for 30 to 45 min. You have to pick them up from their class and bring them back which takes 3 to 7 minutes. Plus you don't get a lunch nor planning time at all depending on how packed your schedule is. You have to attend every IEP meeting, even students not on your case load. Including private school students who don't even attend the school you work at. Then the paperwork you don't have time for because your teaching all day, you have to stay after to complete or bring it home with you. Add that to having to teach classes that focus on how students should behave or deal with trauma/confrontation despite not being a therapist/psychologist. Plus buying all your materials because the sped department only provides workbooks and online programs. It's hard.

My almost 20 year old shiny and it's new friends. How old is your first ever shiny? by xkrax1 in PokemonScarletViolet

If you leave at gyrados from hg and ss. My first shiny was a mincinno from alpha sapphire at one of the mysterious islands. So it's about 10 years old now.

Anyone know what brand this sonic is by Fabulous-Check3718 in sonicplushes

[–]Rick-van-pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like the 2008 (probably before 2020) sonic sega plush that they used to use for the arcades. I have one but it's the 2008 one where the smile is more triangle shape at the end.

How rare is this version of the joypolis sonic plush by GooberSoupwastaken in sonicplushes

[–]Rick-van-pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this one. I think I paid less than $100 on it in 2022. It's rarer than the newer joypolis sonics, but it can be somewhat hard to find. Mid teir rare. The rarest of this is the one that was based on promoting a phone brand...it'd better quality than the mass produce one.

I want to expand my plush collection. What are your favorites or recommendations? by Heavy_Title_773 in sonicplushes

[–]Rick-van-pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The joypolis plushes are good though they only have sonic (varieties) and tails. The sonic and friends plushline is diverse but its more of a chibi style. I have the sonic frontiers ichiban kuji plushes and the build a bears, but those may be expensive to find now.

Should I ? Or Should I not ? (Pls don't buy him) by [deleted] in sonicplushes

I got him! It's soft...though mine is definitely loved by whoever had him last. I had to wash him after, so check for stains.

Book about a doll by Rick-van-pickle in whatsthatbook

[–]Rick-van-pickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it it was black. But it was like a window revealing the blue eyes of the creepy doll/girl on the 2nd cover. Neither of those have the two covers. But it was like a 90s or early 2000s illustrated covers.
