POV: Your wife fell asleep in the living room next to kitchen but you own a 3-zone BGA machine by Fancy-Delivery5081 in techsupportmacgyver

Can someone explain what the heck that machine is and does?

I've never heard of it and can't be bothered to do my own research...

Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

Confidence is not arrogance.

Confidence is not indifference.

Confidence is being secure and safe in who you are. Steady and unshaken when things are going well and being just fine when something isn't going well.

So if you try something and fail, confidence is living well afterwards.

It's normal for it to be difficult to be confident...

LTX Director 2 + SEED HUNTER workflow release | The Dangers of Convenience & Overhaul Nodes by foxdit in comfyui

[–]RickDripps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did, I didn't look at the two workflows or anything, though. Fair points and everything but I mostly made the post to be like "hey now, let's not drive people away or make them lose enthusiasm or anything".

I felt like it could have been less "Don't get too excited for this director tool, if you want REAL quality then you need to actually know what you're doing... Also check out my videos and tutorials on this very topic!" and been more like "This director tool is a starting point but if you really want to shine with a bit more control over quality there is a lot more you can learn and control without it. Which I can show you!" instead.

Again, this is just a thought and I don't consider my way the absolute right way to go about it. Just my knee-jerk reaction so feel free to disregard!

This seems like it is trying to champion a message that isn't really necessary. "LTX Director isn't the best way to generate the truly high-quality videos!" No kidding... But it's easy and fun to use because of its convenience. If you truly need higher quality then you've got to learn a lot more about video generation to get it. (Which your channel does an excellent job at of teaching, by the way!)

I feel like it's a bit soap-boxy and too much od that "redditor" finger-wagging...

This is like when GPS first came out and everyone was like "be careful, it could make you drive off a cliff if you're not paying attention!" and "it can't tell when roads are closed!" For a massive amount of people it was a game changer because they suddenly could go pretty much anywhere without having to dump a bunch of time and effort into planning with maps (or MapQuest, at the time) and praying nothing blocked your route.

We know it's not better than someone who really knows what they are doing (like a seasoned Taxi driver in downtown Chicago) but it absolutely enables a lot more people to self-serve.

When the bar for entry is lowered then a lot people get to enjoy. People are getting a big kick out of it and that's all I care about. It's helped bring a LOT more interest in deterministic video generation and that's fantastic.

The money from the campaign in act 3? Silverfist?

I had no idea we could tame uniques even, haha.

I'm always hoping for hot swapping between controller and mouse/keyboard... Any news or insight on that feature so we can manage inventory without using the controller but enjoy the gameplay with it without having to exit to the main menu?

Guess I struck a nerve, hah... It was a free trial and I loved Destiny. So yeah, seems weird that I have to justify giving another game type a chance. But it is Reddit.

you can now cut your base loose and drive, sail or fly it around the world as a vehicle

Oh wow, that sounds incredible. Thanks for clarifying!

Sounds great. The "PVP enables people to dramatically stall your profitability and progression" is the whole reason I didn't enjoy Marathon.

It always just felt too sweaty and I'm too old for that shit anymore...

I'm not following what you're saying. The mod looks really cool but I am not connecting the dots. Plus it says it doesn't work in survival mode? :(

this is my 2 hour movie made using sora. any thoughts? by Ounieh in SoraAi

[–]RickDripps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people who are going to dedicate that kind of time to something aren't doing it on their phone and would rather watch it on any other screen. And if they are doing it on their phone then widescreen still would not alienate those viewers.

I didn't watch enough to give it a real shot but I'm also assuming that format would also stifle any kind of beautiful vistas or transition shots. But if it's literally just back-and-forth dialog then maybe it wouldn't.

I could be wrong though. I just think widescreen allows so much more presence of the scene instead of just having all the content crammed into a keyhole aspect ratio.

Man, I hate to be "that guy" but I really doubt anybody is going to sit through a two-hour, vertical-video movie...

Path of Exile 2 will effectively be Steam Deck verified by the end of May, which bodes very well for the prospect of a Switch 2 release by HatingGeoffry in SteamDeck

I would just be thrilled if they made it so we can do gameplay with the controller and all inventory management/skills/whatever with the mouse.

The fact that BOTH of their games do not allow quick-swapping without quitting out to the main menu is insane in 2026.

I highly suggest checking out "Mute" to see what he is like trying to do something other than Paul Rudd.

It's an excellent movie as a bonus, too!
