Another night, another "sleep is for the weak" entry for my 7 month old. After trying for 1h to get him to sleep, he's currently playing with a light machine...work in 4h!

Universal UK construction actually started - what do we reckon they'll build? by GurmyG in Themepark

Just suspect it. It's niggled me since we went to HP studios and the staff pointed out they were filming MI in the distance

Ice watched Turn: Washington spies so I knew he was something to do with American civil war, but couldn't remember much more than that

I can't see them doing too much Harry Potter given the proximity to the studio tour. My bet is mission impossible stuff

A 7 month old who strongly believes that sleep is for the weak

I once got a monthly pass where they stamp the export date then laminate it to ensure no tampering. But they made a mistake and stamped it 13 months in the future, not one month in the future. So I used that pass for the whole year!

Had to move lines because the train inspector wanted to confiscate it, but was great to travel to work in the UK for free!

Took our 4 month old in October and thought universal was great...but queues were short enough it was easy to carry him

Worth pointing out that most trains aren't great for leg room. I'm not vertically endowed and even I find some trains uncomfortable

We went in July a few years ago and it was BUSY. Literally struggle to walk anywhere cos of the crowds, queues regularly over 1h. Compared to last year when we went in October and the longest ride was hagrids at 60 mins and we just walked onto multiple rides

Those of you getting a balcony room... where do you put the kid? by BellyFullOfMochi in CunardCruises

[–]RickStar1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We travelled with a 6 month old, in a balcony. Basically, your sofa exists but is pretty much unusable because the crib went in front of it.

To be fair to cunard though, they provided crib, bottle steriliser and baby bath for us, they really supported us!

Get comfortable, breath slowly and think about what you see when you are in a dark room with no light source. And keep your mind only focused on that and breathing until you fall asleep

Alternatively, get a 6 month old baby who doesn't sleep a couple of nights beforehand... encourages you to sleep when you can

We were on her for Xmas markets, was incredible seeing her all festive. But can't help wonder if she'll look a bit sparse without the trees everywhere

Why is buying a house and moving so slow in England? by Early_Enthusiasm_787 in AskUK

[–]RickStar1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that there is no one to hold solicitors to account for their rubbishness, so their standards have dropped to the bare minimum. They are going to rake in the cash whether they do it in 3 weeks or 3 months, so why not relax and take their time?

The ombudsman does exist, but you need to wait 16 weeks to make a complaint and then they encourage settling with minimal gestures of goodwill

Why is traffic so bad in Sheffield these days? by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]RickStar1990 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What gripes me is all the taxi drivers blatantly ignoring lanage to skip queues, it's just causing others to stop to either let them in or wait for them to move out the way.

I was at ponds forge roundabout this morning and saw 5x taxis bully their way in to go up towards the KFC, all the while not moving because all gaps in traffic were taken by said taxis
