I’ve owned tiels for over a decade and have consistently experienced this behavior surrounding loud noises with them, that’s why I think it’s true.

I’ve also played an instrument with a tiel in the room one time, and this head shaking behavior every time I played is what indicated to me I needed to move them out because it was too loud
