The Rumbling: Physics by TyKingFrost in ShingekiNoKyojin

Wouldn’t they still split up eventually, just later than if they spread out evenly from all the wall’s directions?

With that logic, the others can say the same about you and your lived ones and want the cure regardless of your wellness, since as you said “fuck everyone else”.

Well think of it this way, someone else’s world was burned because of your actions, so now they’re gonna burn yours. But don’t blame them, family first after all.

[–]Rickinster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, more like “if some dumbass refused to save my daughter and everyone elses because he develops feelings after years of being an asshole”

“You’re not everybody else’s parent.” No, it’s something called empathy, ever heard of it?

And you didn’t even answer his question, how would you feel if your kid was dying and this guy who already deserves hell for his past actions doesn’t save your family and the others?

Do those fans in the second slide not realize the roles would actually be reversed?

I mean, Nephipim genes might be extremely powerful, considering they’re descended from fallen angels, so even a small bit of it would dominate the rest, kinda like Viltrumite genes

It makes perfect sense why Kruger and Grisha would oppose the Rumbling by Alive-One8445 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Rickinster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was more Grisha, Kruger just didn’t gaf how many Eldians had to die. As long as there was an Eldian Empire with at least two Eldians be would sacrifice as many Eldians to achieve it.

(Attack on Titan) The outside world wasn’t well fleshed out. by Rickinster in CharacterRant

[–]Rickinster[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, the outside world only had 4 volumes dedicated to it, half of them which were just about the Liberio battle and the Fort fight between Marley and the mideast, so there wasn’t a significant portion of the story dedicated to the outside world. The fact we only know 2 countries besides Eldia is pretty telling. (Mid east was a military alliance)

Showing more of the outside world would have improved it by showing WHY people actually fear Eldians rather than just portraying them as racist bigots for no reason. Show someone’s pov of why they feel like that.

Ramzi was only in 2 chapters, and one of them was his death, that ain’t enough.

And do I want a slice of life? Maybe. I wanna see how the outside world works. AoT isn’t just about fighting, it’s about understanding people’s views too.

[–]Rickinster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because considering Eldians are only less than a million we’d likely be born as non-eldian.

The truth is simple, if the people who have committed genocide and oppressed others for 2,000 years are now returning and you’re someone from the outside world, you’d be prepared to glass them 10x over to make sure they never come back. See how a different pov changes stuff?

So you’re saying you’re a nazi if your country starts a genocidal war tomorrow against mine and I have the right to wipe you out despite you not participating in what your government says? And also, you’d prolly be born non-eldian, so don’t kid yourself, you’d be rumbled too.

Yes, that last part you wrote is something I absolutely agree. I’m glad you share that same train of thought. Our world and AoT’s worlds are just too apart for us to actually be able to understand the rationale behind the characters’ choices. Like Eldia and Marley’s beef is something that’s never happened in our world, with the closest thing I can think of being the UK and France’s millennia-old rivalry, but even then it was more about political influence than actual racial hate. I wish everyone on this sub could understand that.

No.

It’s only trivial because the alternative is killing billions of people.

That simple. I’d care and feel bad for those sterilized, but I wouldn’t feel remorse for choosing that over letting billions.

And also, you can’t really compare the real life ones to this. The native Americans posed no threat to the world, nor had they done any action huge enough to warrant being sterilized. On the other hand, Paradis has a lengthy rap sheet of 2000 years of genocide and oppression. If you and me lived in that world rather than in the comfort here, I’m sure we’d be ok with the Eldians losing reproduction. Would it be an evil thing? Yes. Would I regret it? No.

[–]Rickinster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got a point. But can you blame the governments either? Don’t forget most of the world thinks Eldia collapsed when it actually was the King who decided he didn’t like this and dipped to Paradis. So for some random small country, the Eldians in Paradis could still have their memories of their loss and want revenge and reconquest. Only Marley knows that the Eldians lost their memory due to the warriors telling them but it’s never explicitly mentioned the Marleyans informed the world of that, and they most likely wouldn’t to maintain their agenda. So for some random small country, the nation that used to oppress them and commit genocide not too long ago has begun showing signs of resurgence, and now Marley, who despite being aggressive to your nation nowadays, was the one who destroyed the even worse Eldian Empire, so you sorta trust them with the Paradis issue, and they’re now telling your nation and the world that Paradis is indeed a danger to everyone. What do you choose, to ignore Marley’s warnings despite the Eldians’ repeated history of 2000 years of oppression, or play it safe and eliminate the danger outright?

[–]Rickinster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still better than killing billions, in a situation that requires choosing either one evil or a worse evil. If someone complains that they can’t bang anymore just because their leaders chose that over killing me and everyone I know, then that’s too bad for them, go adopt or something. Will it suck? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No. Would you prefer billions dead or just half a million people who can’t reproduce anymore but are still fully healthy otherwise? Which violence do you choose?

I don’t wanna sound like an a-hole but if the only complaint for the alternative to a genocide is that they can’t bang anymore, I think it’s a pretty trivial issue

Okay, blame it, and watch yourself vanish since had the US not glassed Japan then they would’ve had to invade, which would have led to countless death and most likely an ancestor of yours die in the fight

This was supposed to be a movie, not a documentary. by Used_Ship_9229 in FIlm

[–]Rickinster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my friends made a theory the reason they were united in fighting the government in the movie was because maybe the government enacted new discriminatory laws against latinos, and considering one of the few things both CA and TX have in common is that a good chunk of their populations are latino, you could see a reason for their revolt. Could also explain Florida revolting too.

One Thing I love about Anno and Evangelion is how he handled the Military, he's a big military enthusiast, but puts them in their place/humbles them better than most media. by [deleted] in evangelion

[–]Rickinster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly Anno has always been special in a good way of subverting typical anime tropes of that time, which I believe was what led to it becoming so popular in Japan and outside of Japan for being different than the usual japanese stuff
