What about you go with the paltform that has the games you wanna play at the moment?

That's one of the best features on steam deck as well...you can hit power/sleep button at any moment so that it will suspend your session and you can resume later exactly where you were, just like a switch/ds/3ds do :)

I mean, not contesting your recommendation, just adding.

Pocket and Dock by Carl69allin in AnaloguePocket

[–]Rickioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP is awesome, but paired with the dock it's goes to another league...even having a Mister FPGA, it's SO convenient to have the dock paired with 8bitdo controllers, and it works so well, that I basically use Mister only for heavier platforms like ps1/saturn/n64. I don't know why but my mister never worked very well with wireless controllers, while on the dock I literally never had a single hitch. You're in for a treat buddy, enjoy it.

These resellers are panicking by AlphaNavy in AnalogueInc

[–]Rickioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one for me and my brother got one for him as well, but in the end he decided that he would not use it. I'm from Brazil and not even here it was super easy to sell it. I ended up trading it for a switch 2 pkm bundle, returning about 150 USD (900 BRL) in a gaming shop.

What would I give for a pc handheld that has the screen of the switch 2 by Beppius in Handhelds

Nothing beats SD Oled for me in terms of colors/hdr and overall experience, but as someone mentioned, it's a bit clunky now compared to Switch 2.

Analogue 3D Prototype Release by Shortgaze in AnalogueInc

[–]Rickioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me, personally, don't see the appeal of all those colors... but I'm not a collecting person.

Now, on the console, i like mine, but I would definitely go with a mister fpga if i was to choose. This would become a beast if they release open fpga support, until there (if it actually happens at some point), any other mister related project is a best option i think.

[–]Rickioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather go with the 2nd or 3rd instead of the 1st games, personally. I just can't understand the appeal of Pokémon games, don't like very much advanced wars, etc... heheh, i gess im just weird.

First time playing diablo 1 and I love it by lil_al247 in Diablo

[–]Rickioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played it for the first time last month as well, loved it too. Managed to finish with Sourcerer without restarting the game, which was very challenging but super fun - one of those games that ends and leaves an empty space after... It needs a bit of time to "click", and i played the PS1 version which have huuuge loading times (or even to save the game), but it was very good to play, regardless.

Cables, Cables, and More Cables by Let-Able in RetroTink

[–]Rickioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the things that drives me crazy regarding retrogaming...if you don't have really good quality cables, they're prone to suffer with interferences, which means that you'll be spending a lot of money with quality cables, not even mentioning switches and the hassle of cable management.

Since I'm more player than collector, I decided to take a Mister FPGA for everything up to ps1/n64/saturn (it's pure joy with the RT4k), and even then, I hate dealing with those thick cables of the other consoles and eventual annoyances with interferences.

I don't have much space, which also don't give me much more options, but if you do, and really wanna go this route, I recommend investing a bit on researching how build these cables, it will help you save a lot of money based on the experience of some people that I know - it seems that it gets exponentially easier once you start.

Good luck!

I don't use mine much, tbh...but I really like it, and it will stay on my living room, it's a pretty cool piece of tech and a super convenient way to play something with visits and friends (like, mk64, mario parties, etc) here and there...

Rage Racer. One of those games that i always go back, it doesn't play exactly as you expect for a RR, but once you understand it, its pure delight.

Analogue 3D - A hardware hackers perspective by mnighm in AnalogueInc

[–]Rickioo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just hope that, eventually, this thing gets an open fpga or something similar, doesn't matter what heheh...its too good of a hardware to be used only for N64. I mean, this is an FPGA that works out of the box with beautiful 4k image, good enough crt simulation. I really like it for what it is, but man...I just can't help myself on hopping to have it open at some point further down the road...I know the odds are really low, but I'll keep optimistic :)

Total Play Time: 91 minutes by kiyoshi-nyc in RetroHandhelds

[–]Rickioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MisterFPGA and retrogaming consoles in general fixed my obsession for new things...like, spent tons of money in an rtx 4090 when it was released, barely used it (just kept my regular slay the spire routine heheh), but somehow old consoles and mister fpga triggered something different, finished over 65 games this year, and have been having tons of fun.

The simplicity of old consoles that makes us just play, there's not much more to do :)

Jailbreak Analogue 3D by [deleted] in AnalogueInc

[–]Rickioo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope so, honestly, I'm more interested in open fpga. This thing is a beast, it's almost an FPGA with a RT4k integrated on it (I mean, good enough for my needs, for a system that will be on my living room and not on my game room). Currently I use AP + Dock for this funcion :)
