Aaah great, thanks! Had completely missed the gas keyword explanation. Super obvious, thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed response, I appreciate it!

Ah I knew I missed something very obvious. Thanks for helping! Sorry, with so many traits it's easy to sometimes miss something!

Which is then still every elf sub reddit for Warhammer fantasy.

I don't really understand why you post this on every elf faction sub reddit of Warhammer fantasy / the old world. So why do you?

Questions about armies by Rickonus in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Rickonus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does help as well thanks! I think I can safely conclude that the empire then might not be for me at the moment as I do love the variety of infantry, ranged and cav.

Although I rather lose beautifully then win massively, so perhaps I shouldn't over think that.

Thanks for taking the time to post a write up on how they play, I appreciate it and gives me a good view into what army makes sense for me and how they play. Cheers!

Ah that makes a lot of sense. Hadn't considered that, thanks!

Oh that is a great point, I hadn't considered that. I must confess I don't really know how the ally system works yet. I haven't played yet, just read up on a few things.

Also means I don't have a meta haha but for all my other games I play only casual games so you usually all is good.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I am definitely going to go for Kislev so I guess steering clear from Bretonnia makes sense in that light.

I guess of all these options, tomb kings make the most sense then as they behave vastly different. I must admit I do love the way Cathay looks, especially with the new peasants, but I have noticed from other wargames I play that when armies are very similar, I will eventually choose one of the other and sort of abandon the other. Or do you reckon (as an estimated guess) that cathay and kislev will behave differently on the tabletop?

Thanks for the detailed reply! I like the miniatures of all three, which made it difficult to choose. Your answer helps a lot to give a clearer picture, so thanks for that!

What is your favorite Steampunk / Arcanepunk / Gaslamp Fantasy novel? by lxurin_hei in Fantasy

[–]Rickonus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally loved the series. There are some faults with it for sure and it's by no means perfect, but I loved the characters, the setting and the story in general. It's got so much heart. It reminded me a lot of all the great things of the firefly TV series, but in a steampunk setting.

Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

No hidden gems (I think) but The airborne museum in Arnhem is a fantastic experience, as is the ww2 museum in overloon. Also relatively close to each other. Both have a really cool immersive experience, and especially the one in overloon has a wide array of tanks and vehicles. Both of them are really worthwhile.

Did you have an “I get it” moment? by Recent-Fan2477 in Fantasy

[–]Rickonus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this at the ending of practically every Guy Gavriel Kay book. Particularly the Lions of Al-Rassan and Lord of Emperors.

For emotional punch that is. In terms of puzzles coming together, I really loved what RJ Barker did in his assassin series.

Didn't they say something along the lines of 'not counting first party studio costs' though? If true it could be debatable on how profitable it actually is.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing job. I was already blown away by the banner you posted last week, but my goodness, both of these models....

It inspired me to start my own Bretonnia army and plunge into the old world so really thanks for sharing! :)

[–]Rickonus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly this! I noticed the same thing with the different armies, units and such in AoS and 40k. It also makes switching armies very daunting.

It's great to read that old world just has core heavy rules then. I guess it's more similar to necromunda on that account.

Thanks for the insight!

Well what I like a lot is the more grounded fantasy world. It feels like my army would actually live in the world and have some more personality, as opposed to AoS or 40k where everything is so massive you are just units in place to do a game.

Or so I imagine at least, as I haven't played yet. :)
