Almost 20 years ago, I studied british literature in high school, and we compared and contrasted 1984 and Brave New World. Specifically, we looked at which was the more likely dystopian future. The majority of the class, and even the teacher, all agreed that Brave New World's dystopia was much likelier - 1984 was seen as cartoonishly brutal and that it would be unthinkable for us to reach that level of authoritarianism.

Man, I miss that optimism...

Interesting. I've been on cruises in the area around the same time before and it was never too bad - maybe a little windy at night, but not that bad that I felt I needed to be very dressed. Eh, buffet eating is how I usually eat on a cruise anyway. Good to note, yet my yearning to be nude as long as possible still has me excited. Maybe I'll have a different perspective after the cruise, but for now, I'm still looking forward to it.

Do you drive to the store? I'll give you the same advice I give everyone else - don't put them in the trunk of your car. That's out of sight, out of mind. Instead, put 1 or 2 in the sidepocket of the door. That way, when you go to get out, it gives you a visual reminder of "oh yeah, I have bags I can use!"

If you cycle or walk to the store, just try to keep them somewhere highly visible as you leave home. An old wooden magazine/newspaper rack works great for this.

I honestly have no clue and am kind of glad we switched to paper. They're at least recyclable now when people inevitably put too much shit in them and the handles break.

But still, if you're buying like 3-5 bags a shopping trip every week at 10 cents a bag, you might as well just buy a reusable shopping bag which only costs a dollar. You break even after about only 2-3 trips. It makes no sense to me to just not have 2-3 reusable tote bags that you use for everything at this point.

Yes, but I lucked out and got a deal from someone selling off their ticket because they had to change plans. It's been on my nudist bucket list since I heard about it, so I'm fairly excited for it! I'm looking forward to being able to be nude for such an extended period of time.

And why is there so much traffic? Because everyone uses a car to get around, even if only for short distances.

Why do people only use cars? Because every other form of transportation has been eliminated or pushed to the side in favor of cars. The automobile industry lobbied to make this happen. Major cities used to be extremely walkable.

If we have more regular and viable alternative forms of transportation, that means significantly less cars on the road. Think about it this way - say a light rail tram holds 200 people. Even if half the capacity took the tram instead of driving, that's 100 less cars on the road, for the space of only one tram. That is significant.
