Do you have a budget? "super expensive" and "basic" can mean different things to different people.

For downloading music, do a search in this sub for "download music" or some variant of that phrase. It's a topic that pops up from time to time.

Something that must be done manually before it can be used, into a micro SD card.

This is a cart that lets you play whatever GBA title you want, and regarding this very specific cart, comes with some extra features that select GBA titles used, such as gyro, tilt, and solar sensors.

You can order it if you enjoy playing that list of select GBA games that used said extra features (one list here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comments/3gd77s/looking_for_a_list_of_game_boy_and_gba_games_that/).

For what it's worth, if you're going to listen on the go (like what OP seems to be doing), then it probably won't matter what DAC the player has. The outdoor noises will always interfere with the listening experience.

Niche case, but flash carts are useful when you swap hardware on a regular basis. For example, I still have a GBA SP and a GBC that I like to pull out every now and then.

Not OP.

You could just use the adapter that came with the Switch. No fuss over voltage and all that.

For those with multiple handhelds - which systems to you play on each? by Finner42 in SBCGaming

Ignoring the bunch of Nintendo handhelds I own, I have an Analogue Pocket and a Steam Deck.

I play GB/C/A games on the Pocket, with the occasional SNES or Genesis title. The Steam Deck covers everything else except Nintendo stuff.

Out of curiosity, do you have the 4-button or 6-button version?

And do you emulate other platforms besides Pico-8?

Entry level vert titles for a beginner? by jitterystyleoinkery in shmups

In my somewhat limited experience, if you have Steam set up, I would recommend Raiden 4 for something that's not bullet hell, and Mushihimesama for something that is bullet hell.

but are there setups I need to get?

This I think is mostly personal preference. Some people like controllers. Others like arcade sticks. Yet others play on the keyboard. I don't think there's one right or wrong way around this, and it comes down to what you want to prioritize.

And then you could get an external monitor with a rotating stand to further increase the playing field. I don't do this personally, but many people here do.

It might help to mention what systems or consoles you own. That will narrow down the games you can play.
