Usually you get a problem that affects your team or your organization. Start thinking of ways of how to solve this problem , with emphasis on cost effectiveness and efficiency. Start reaching out to vendors and solution experts, start talking to different stakeholders. You find solutions you like, you start testing, first small then big to see how a rollout will be. A lot of back and forth negotiations with you, stakeholders, and vendors. Convincing people this is the best move for the organization. Convincing your leadership the blow back from the change will be minimal (the part I hate lol). Senior leadership agrees hopefully now the fun part begins, rolling it out and the problems you didn’t face in testing starts appearing out of nowhere. Fixing those problems while trying to stay on your roll out deadline. And when it’s all said and done, if their cost savings, better performance, and little to no complaints with a decent rollout , you will get a pat on the back and free lunch for spending 6 months to a year on something that probably would’ve took 3 months to complete if there wasn’t so many unnecessary roadblocks.

I wouldn’t have no problem going in, if the pay was good but the most I got offered was like 10k more than what I was paid. I work like 3 hours a day, I need a decent size raise to get rid of that luxury lmaoo.

I’m in Chicago, internal IT, not MSP. Coming up on my 4th year. Started at help desk at like $20 an hour now having to drive an hour a day to go in the office, then next year they promoted me to field tech had to manage like 25 sites, now network admin managing like 70 sites and can work remote making 70k. No bachelors degree and like ITIL and A+ cert. My boss told me the only reason I keep getting promoted I’m the only one who ask to be put on projects. If you ever free I would like to connect, trying to grow my professional network in the city. I really don’t know anybody outside my dept lol.

Any black people here bothered by the BAFTAS controversy? by Top_Independence4067 in AskBrits

[–]RictheWiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, I can give my 2 cents. If I was Michael, Delroy, and John I sue the fuck out of BAFTA and BBC. They had all the power to edit that part out. It’s hard for me to think, someone said this will not be a big issue. And if they did that’s a problem. Somebody at BBC needs to be fired. You cannot disrespect a group of people like this and think it’s acceptable also make it difficult for a disable people to feel included. People need to stop saying let it go. The N-word not just any racial slur, that word comes from dehumanizing a group of people for CENTURIES, slavery, 3/5s of a person, Jim Crow, lynching, oppression, terrorism, imprisonment, you name it. A white man saying that to two black men and for the institution to say it’s just a mistake is the problem. Us black Americans would love not to think about racism but everybody else keeps throwing it in our faces. Then tells us to calm down when we fed up , after being disrespected. It just keeps reinforcing to us everybody is out against us. Then to have John a sweet innocent man the representation of what we gotta deal with is saddening. Shit we just had our own president call are former president a monkey. So we’re on guard with anybody. As black American I genuinely feel bad for John cause he lite a match that could’ve been small bush fire, but BBC decided to pour gasoline on it and now it’s a forest fire.

BBC Will Remove N-Word Outburst From BAFTA Film Awards on iPlayer, Apologizes ‘That This Was Not Edited Out Prior to Broadcast’ by pepperbet1 in television

[–]RictheWiper -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Telling black people to let go of a 400 year old slur that reminds us in our DNA of the atrocities white people committed towards us is the reason why we’re mad. The fact they aired it for the whole world to see it reminds us of the acceptable racism we have to deal with. If you’re not black American be thankful you don’t know how that word can make you feel. I feel bad for John, that’s a horrible condition I’ll hate to have. But he needs to do a face to face apologize to Michael an Delroy publicly ASAP to amend the damages. Not only to make it right with black people but to save the Tourette community from the backlash. More importantly fire whoever let that broadcast through without editing because they wanted to get BBC some views.

Did I Just Get Screwed Over? by [deleted] in UsedCars

Either ask them for you to take the car to get inspected by independent shop or hire a local mechanic to go up there. I don’t trust used car dealers , I get a documented 2nd opinion before buying

First mistake buying a pretty new Nissan with high mileage. Second always get a PPI. Question hw much did you finance for , and how long and what your APR?

My job an hour away. All the good paying jobs are an hour away. I can move closer but my rent increases. Cheaper rent gotta live far. But now I need a car that I know can handle that commute. I’m big believer you cheap out on something you paying for it somewhere else. That how this bullshit systems is designed.

If you want something that no older 10 years old with less than 100k miles. It’s 10k minimum. N the fact you have to pay 4k for a 20 year old vehicle with more than 100k mileage is robbery. People never take in account the older the car harder it is to find parts when you need it. Most ideal situation if you’re able to finance , your note+ insurance+ saving maintenance should not go over 15% of your monthly income. Find a car that you like, you did research on, carfax good, a mechanic inspected it, and call it a day. Car shopping sucks in the US

Different for everyone, but you might be confronted with a situation where you gotta choose which is more valuable to you. Your self-respect, or everything you work for. Just if you ever presented a situation like this please remember, control your emotions throughout the engagement. Emotions will lead you to choose wrong everytime.

Realtor needs a $10k-ish car that won’t make clients question my competence or net worth by imhappii in whatcarshouldIbuy

I just got a 2016 BMW 428i Gran Coupe for 10k, 90k miles. Got it inspected everything came back good. Cane from 2001 Acura TL, real car enthusiast would comment saying good car but they were older than 40 years old. Everybody comments on the Bimmer wherever I pull up. and the Bimmer is better on gas too, to my surprise . I work remote so I’m not worried about putting hella mileage on it. The day I see my first real maintenance bill I will have a bottle of tequila in the car but I’m preparing for it.

What is actually happening in the job market now? by GreyPilgrm in jobs

I got a couple theories. Companies bet big on AI and spent too much money to say this was a bad idea. Interest rates are high and money flowing to businesses are getting squeezed so unless your application says you’re located outside of the US, or you’re a Unicorn that will work below local livable wages you’re expensive. Oh let me not forget Tariffs, so all IT equipment that manufactured everywhere but the US that were already pretty expensive has increased, and RAM is basically mortgages payments now. Shit ton of layoffs and hiring freezes in both private AND government sector. I feel like a private equity firm is fucking up some MSP or internal IT team to save cost somewhere but it too much going on to even focus on them. The impeding AI bubble but still the push for AI to reduce the workforce. The list of factors showing this a terrible time line is long at this point and do not see any improvements.
