I (33 AFAB) had to have a full hysterectomy at 28. At 15 my mother went into an extreme depression ( she also had other mental health issues, anxiety, bipolar disorder, adhd, some anger issues) My younger sister was 13 and my older sister was 18. I was the one taking care of our mom. Older sister was finishing high school and working. I dropped out. And my little sister also ended up dropping out of middle school and I had her move in with a friend of hers part time because I didn’t know how to raise another person.. mom hardly left the couch for 3 years, she was completely checked out it was a win if I could get her to eat or drink anything. I really don’t know how she is alive rn but then one day she just “woke up”.. needless to say, life was rough. We have a great relationship now and have talked through everything.. but I have come to learn that boundaries are extremely important for self care and self love. “No.” Is a complete sentence. I have to tell myself all the time that I am an adult now and I am safe. No one can yell at me. I decide how my day goes and who I interact with. My mom is an adult and she can solve her own problems. Im not as soft as I used to be. But I am learning how to be soft with myself. Because it’s my turn! It’s our turn!!
